Guest old-time Habs fan
Hab We Forgot? Hab we quite forgot, my dear, our Habs went into slump, last year; and though they rallied near the end, their drought near drove us 'round the bend. A loss or two along the way, will not, alone, affect our play; a string of them, however, will, erode our chance to make the bill. Best not to get too exercised, when someone else takes home the prize; as long as we get our share of wins, and stay away from penalty-bins. Been there, watched that, so many times, too many now, to count, in rhymes; have learned to roll with pucks that bounce, and get ecstatic, when they trounce. My pen, of course, cannot prevent, our penchant to go to detent; or fall asleep in second round, and wake, too late, to gain the ground. "A" for effort, though, is clear, but not enough to split the hair; too close for comfort often reigns, we're suffering, still, from growing pains. A work in progress is our team, that won't be always on the beam; success is measured in degrees, so far, so good, the bee has knees. So let's support our harried Habs, who don't deserve the many jabs, they get, when they don't win, but need our nod, through thick and thin. Guest old-time Habs fan
Seconds, anyone? When you ask for seconds, son, you'll have opponents on the run; first, you up the ante, sure, then, in the third, insure your score. Freaking Flyers made their point, of skunking, while we stunk-up the joint; mileage made at our expense, can be regained in recompense. Next time round, we'll clip their wings, and keep them grounded, "underlings"! we can't let cellar-dwellers win, while we prefer the old, sin-bin. Can't let Abby take the blame, to grouse the goalie is a shame; all must share in win or loss, or else, we blame it on the boss! GO HABS GO!! Guest old-time Habs fan
Hab Goals, will Travel No matter whether Wild or Flame, Our Habs can take them out or tame; The Sabres sure can show some teeth, Not that, with luck, they can’t be beat. To Leaf the lucky’s loss we mourn, For such a toss, we took such scorn; We’re on their heels, division-wise, With games in hand, we’ll take the prize. Revenge, however sweet, will come, When we can win on our re-run; Our rivalry, no one can match, Therefore, next time, we must dispatch. So far, so good, we’re on a roll, We’re winning by at least a goal; Even on the road we’ll pass, And pick up speed, ‘til home at last! If we continue winning ways, By staying on offensive plays, A play-off berth is one sure-bet, And then, all bets are off, the set. As history’s proven times before, That whether you’re on roof or floor, The house might give you even odds, To take the cup, is with the gods. Guest NothingGreater
Can you do a pretty poem of a great save by Huet? A wrist shot by Kovy? Or a 'Boom Boom' on a superstar by Komi? Lol sorry I love your poems and I would just love to hear you describe the play of the game.

Or a 'Boom Boom' on a superstar by Komi?Lol sorry I love your poems and I would just love to hear you describe the play of the game. I'll take a shot at it! (the pun is intended). In the meantime, here's one I put in the Habs vs Panthers thread. Fault-Line The tinge is off the rose's hue, when oft I treat myself to brew; but apt that Hab has rosy cheek, as humps his rump least twice a week. That sore behind when scoring's low, we're loathe to let the losers go; as winners warrant our content, the soreness always gets full vent. Often venal, our abuse, with faults we're hardly e'er obtuse; just as a ref calls down a play, we like to bury bones in clay. Our feet, though firmly planted, thus, are hardly stilled, when on the bus, or off the game, we make a fuss and surely blame the best of us. The pace of hockey fosters fault, that, trying hard and through no halt, our players fly toward the goal, and, if they're lucky, find a hole, between the pipes or pads of those, who'll sell their souls to stop our goals. FLO HABS FLO! AND GIVE THE PANTHERS YOUR BEST SHOW!

Awesome struck by your retort, yet, bashful, I remain, of sort; though not too reticent to rant, whenever Habbies can, or can't. HO, HO, HABS ALL I WANT FOR XMAS IS A PANTHER PELT! A challenge to all the rest of you amateur poets out there to take the last word in my poem (rest) and begin yours, as I just did with carsonj. Perhaps we can start a " winning trend". Good luck!
