You cannot be the number one powerplay in the league and go 0 for 7, it just can't happen.

The "odds gods" might argue that a 25.3% efficiency PP 'may' go 0-7 (one of those 7 was for all of 4 seconds, so let's call it 0-6) when:

  • you've been 'front loading' against weaker PK teams of late, at some 30% plus efficiency (i.e., the odds are starting swing in favour of the house); and
  • you're playing against the #2 PK team; and
  • you're just off a transcontinental flight the day before
The same 'odds gods' say that all bodes well for Thursday night's PP against the Coyotes! ;)

How about we leave misinterpreted racial cliches out of this thread :(

The misinterpretation is actually your own. The phrase "to call a spade a spade" predates the use of the word "spade" as an ethnic slur (which I've never seen used in such a way, I actually had to look this situation up).

"To call a spade a spade" is a common idiom, basically meaning to speak forwardly and truthfully about a topic; it's calling a spade by it's real name, not calling it a shovel.

I can guarentee the member in question did not mean it as you would like to think -- nor would anyone else on this board. Hope that clears this situation up for all.

Still fuming over the reffing last night, but it is over and can't change it now. Just have to hope it doesn't continue like this.

OK, I have been saying this for months: send Lats to Hamilton and bring back Chips. Lats is just too slow and is always taking cheap hooking penalties and he makes it worse by putting his hands up and drawing attention to himself. Smokes has to sit too. He is too slow for this team. Why is Dandy always sitting? He has speed, he can hit, and can score the odd game changing goal. And last night, Ryder was flying, but with only 10 mins. of ice time he could not do much especially playing with Lats. How could Guy have missed that? The guys have to regroup and be ready for Phoenix. They can play a good game when they are on. Can't take it lightly.

Habs do need to win the next 3 Games. Def. Keeps the Pacific guys under my Sharks...and I'm hoping my Sharks win tomorrow against the Sens. That should help y'all out. =D

Kovalev nowhere to be found? I guess the perfect one-touch pass he made to set up Plekanec's second goal was an out-of-body experience.

your right. i should have made myself more clear. no where to be found in the fact that when we have a good pp going he is able to control the puck and settle things down. that didn't happen last night. and i guess our top point getter recording only one point w/ all those PP was lighting it up. focus on the game, you'll see

I was just as dissapointed as the next person with this loss. I was a little surprised at the beginning of the game how SJ outskated the Habs. I know SJ was fast but they made the Habs look sluggish.

We can't win em all and better to lose to a non-divisional team gaining ground on us. Still no excuse though.

Go Habs Go!!

The whole team was shut down last night.

Did you notice that whenever Kovy did touch the puck, they had a double man coverage on him? Or the fact that when we were on the PP, the Sharks were all lined up on their blue line, which clogged and preasured our entry and no one could make a play.

Last night we weren't thinking or playing properly.

Also to mention. SJS has the 2nd BEST PK in the league...so...even match if you ask me. Props to the Sharks for shutting us down, even though we got 4 past them.

people don't realize it's a long trip. it takes alot out of you. i've been saying we should have started halak a perfect time to rest price after all the nonsense of the deadline and then playing three straight. with out a doubt we will recover and adjust. this is a very good team

So if he's not having multi-point nights on the power play against the second-best PK in the league, he's 'nowhere to be found'? Let's bring some balance to the discussion, please, and leave the hyperbole at the door.

we scored four times. while i agree with your assesment of there penalty kill, we had many chances and could have scored eight. price was soft and o'byrne was slow as was latts. some changes need to be made

Guest HabsFanStuckInToronto!

I think for this trip to be successful, we have to go 2-2. We lost the first game and now it puts greater importance on the next 2 games. These are the games to win because if Anaheim isn't hard enough, we play them on the back end of a back-to-back.

So Los Angelos and Phoenix...BE READY! The Habs are coming for the win!

Montreal has some time to practise and they better practise some defense. They were brutal and did absolutely nothing to help Price. How many breakaways/clear paths to the net did they allow? I expect a much improved defensive effort on Thursday.

I am unsure who Carboneau will start and I don't think that it matters. Personally, Price plays in Phoenix to allow for a bounce-back game and then Halak gets a start on the weekend!

Yep games like the next two you can't giveaway, especially with such a tough one on sunday. Anything less than the 2 wins in the next two games is a disapointment.

If you've bothered to read any of Weep's posts you'd see that he, in fact, does "focus on the game" quite well. He's usually bang on in his assesment. He simply doesn't share your opinion. Personally, I tend to agree with him.

nit pik on the 9 sec. pp. please. to all you who think the refs were bad, just watched highlights of 93 on nhl net. stop crying. price was soft, ak27 well you know, and were is ryder {should be back with sk and higgins}. who ever posted that the west is harder dosen't watch hockey, the west is wide open, run and gun, witch is why we need ryder. please watch the game before posting

Again, I'm pretty sure the poster you quoted did watch the game. I agree that Ryder wasn't given enough ice time, especially since he seemed to look fired up early. I might not totally agree with your assessment of the west however. Either way, there's no need to be condescending about it.
