Guest arrowsno13
both Max penaltys were accidental and should have been given the benefit at least on the 2nd one but thats not in sutherlands vocab As much as I was p'd about the calls the fact that he drew blood both times is not something the refs can ignore. Good thing they only scored the one time. I was a bit ticked off that the refs didn't see Markov get hit with a high stick midway through the 3rd period. Him scoring the winning goal just made everything that much sweeter. What gets me, is why 8 mins and not 4 Two seperate incidents...two double minors for high sticking and drawing blood. Guest RockMtl
There was some ugly stuff towards the end of the game!! (slashes - Kovey, Plek, Hammer). The league has got to look at those tapes!!!!
Guest habs_fan1160
Was it just my imagination, or were the Habs fans in attendance starting an "Ole, Ole" chant late in the third period last night? Awesome if they were. Yes they were. That's gotta be deflating for the home team lol.
ColRouleBleu
I can't believe how many people DON'T go to these hockey games down there. Tons of empty seats and the majority of ppl there were wearing Habs jerseys. How do hockey teams like that stay afloat? They stay afloat because of teams like ours that have to share their revenue Was it just my imagination, or were the Habs fans in attendance starting an "Ole, Ole" chant late in the third period last night? Awesome if they were. You heard it right. There were pretty loud 'Go Habs Go' after each of our goals too Yes they were. That's gotta be deflating for the home team lol. We're invading the league! Muahahahaha!

Guest dpolo
Didn't I see Kovy playing with Koivu and Higgins on the PP last night? I beleive they scored two PP goals. I wonder what Plek and older Kosty are thinking (here goes our set up man)........ But I guess that's our future we just picked a glance at - Kosty brothers centered by Plekanec. Guest habsrule4eva3089
I had to watch the game on mute at work so I can't confirm but I wouldn't be surprised seeing how many fans were there. I know they do it in Ottawa, Boston, Philidelphia, Buffalo.... anywhere else? maybe Floriday & Tampa Bay? maybe every other rink in the world where we would play in... our fans are everywhere
Guest Ricochet
Again. If they are going to have 4 minute penalties for causing an injury and continue to miss calls, coaches should be able to call for a video review of those plays. The safety of the players can't be dependent on which direction the referee is looking and those calls have a huge impact on the game. If players knew they weren't going to get away with elbows, slashes and high sticks, you would have less 'intentional' infractions and with the video review, players would be more diligent about controlling their sticks and making clean hits. It doesn't help with Lapierre's calls last night, but it certainly helps with the non calls and takes some pressure off the referees. As far as Lapierre's calls where his stick wasn't completely under his control, there shouldn't be an extra two minute penalty for injury if the victim isn't properly protected in the first place. Wearing a half or no visor is a personal choice and players should be responsible for that decision in cases of incidental contact. Players are covered almost head to toe in protective equipment. The one area they choose not to protect themselves is the face?

The one area they choose not to protect themselves is the face? I agree 100 percent. I mean what was up with that visious slash to the unprotected back end of Plekanec's knee last night, with no one around a 10 foot radius (except for Bryzgalov), and not even a penalty was called! Even Markov's hit in the face by a high stick moments before he scored, and no call? Or how about Grabovski against the sharks. He even drew blood and the guy only got 2 minutes!!! It's just mind bogling! The coaches should deffinetly be able to go upstairs for a video review if the refs are THAT incompetent.
Guest Ricochet
It's simply a matter of keeping a level playing field. Two teams can be equally reckless with their sticks but the scales tip in one team's favor because the referees can't make the call consistently. Some are in close quarters and hard to discern, some are a result of the ref being in a bad position to make the call, some are behind the play, whatever. Give them more control or allow the coaches a measure of control. They would have to have a viewscreen at ice level so the referee can actually see the play. If he doesn't deem it a penalty, it's a delay of game against the coach that called for the review. Prevents frivolous useage. You would have to be pretty damn sure to risk it. It would slow the game down for a couple of months as people got used to the reviews. Once the review becomes standard procedure and players have tightened up their play to avoid those calls, it should be a rare occurrence.
