Guest FREDDYBEACH HAB
ROFLMAO .... I look at this and I just laugh. Not because of who made it but who hasn't. It should be noted that those great GM's of the past drafted some duds too. Keep that list in mind next time you bash BG and crew for who they draf. Hind sight is always 20-20. Guest lpkyer
It's so hard to draft good players anyway. Some of them are just so young you don't how they'll end up at 19 years old.

Guest Me_Habs_Fan
Ahhh OK, well we got the best out of that deal for sure. I wasn't really happy when they did the deal, but I'm a pretty happy camper now
Guest JL
So where is Balej now and is he doing ok? The last I've heard, Balej was playing for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, the Vancouver Canucks' farm team.
Guest 1970 Habs
So where is Balej now and is he doing ok? Some background info to answer your question. At the start of the 2005-06 season, Balej was dealt to the Vancouver Canucks for Fedor Fedorov. He played well for the AHL Manitoba Moose to start the season, and earned a one-game callup to the Canucks, in which he played well and recorded an assist. However, shortly after his return to Manitoba he suffered a gruesome injury when he crashed into the boards and harpooned himself in the midsection with his stick. The blow crushed his kidney and caused severe internal bleeding, and was initially feared to be career-threatening. However, he battled back to return for the end of the season and the playoffs. Balej was given a qualifying offer by the Canucks to return for the 2006-07 season, but opted instead to sign in Switzerland for Fribourg-Gottéron, where he recorded 13 goals and 30 points in 37 games. In the summer of 2007, Balej re-signed with the Canucks for 2007-08. In 16 games with the Manitoba Moose this year he has 4 goals and 9 assists. He will be a level VI UFA at the end of the season. Yes, that's why they carry out psychological and personality tests on them, etc., before selecting them. I hear Carey Price wrote his test while lying on a li-lo in a shark-infested tank!! Guest Innis_Mor
Olivier Fortier Awarded The Guy Carbonneau Trophy for 2007-08 by QMJHL News just out: http://www.lhjmq.qc.ca/lang_en/index.php?p...d_nouvelle=1740 Not yet another good prospect!! 2007 5th round (the Zednik trade pick) 7 short-handed goals this season. He's showing up Carbo/Jarvis/Gainey!! Thanks for info guys. Wow, that was certainly a gruesome injury (Balej). I worry about Hab injuries as we near the playoffs. You forgot to say "knock on wood". Komi's injury is all your fault (just kidding!).

Kidney injuries aren't wouldn't really go into the "gruesome" category. My friend had his kidney in a simular situation and it only took about 2 months to get better. Guest 1970 Habs
Kidney injuries aren't wouldn't really go into the "gruesome" category. My friend had his kidney in a simular situation and it only took about 2 months to get better. In this case his stick jammed his insides severe enough that it ruptured his kidney causing severe internal bleeding from the damaged Kidney within 2 hours. The immediate result would be a rapid drop in blood pressure which could have precipitated a cardiac arrest. Considering that the two kidneys together receive between 20% and 25% of the total cardiac output of blood he could easily have bled to death from internal bleeding within a short time. If that is not gruesome I do not know what is.
Guest Keetla
I also looked up the top draft picks for other teams... and oh boy, it surprises me just how many names I do NOT recognize in the top-10 picks. It makes me feel somewhat better about the fact that we will be getting a late first-round pick this year!
Guest fansince1975
The draft is such a gamble. It would be nice if only the first round was 18 year players and the other rounds 19 year old players. Might give a better idea if these players are going to have a chance to make the NHL. It was impressive to see how many players Montreal drafted are in the NHL for Montreal especially given the difficulty picking 18 year players in the draft. Current roster drafted by Montreal: Brisebois, Price, Halak, Koivu, Grabs, A. Kostitsyn, S. Kostitsyn, Komi, Markov, Streit, O'Byrne, Higgins, Lats, Lapierre, Pleks, and Ryder. 16 players. I note that the drafts in the roster list is anchored in goal and on defense -- something to that, I guess.

Your right it is I won't be saying that again without adding the - knock on wood. Lots of talent, but we need another Kovi. He isn't getting any younger.
