Guest ChitownHabby Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 With the regular season winding down, the division title virtually a lock, the leafs eliminated, Kovy's resurgence and the offensive explosion all being great stories this season, I ask what moment stands out most from this season? The obvious pick is "The Comeback" deservedly so but I am going to go a bit outside the box and choose an instance from earlier this season that was my defining moment of believing in this edition of the Habs. November 13, 2007 : http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&am...&gameType=2 Mike Komisarek stole the puck on a McCabe pass in OT and sailed down the ice on a breakaway, deked and scored a beauty in the Air Canada Center!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The subsequent reaction from his teammates especially Kovalev, Carbo and the cheer in the ACC was definitely my favorite moment of the habs season. It was truly the moment when I said : These guys are pretty good! P.s. The comeback was such a shock that I still am not sure I believe what I saw.... Guest concreteveins Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 Apart from the comeback...and the goal scroing and kovy coming out of "retirement" my favourite moment of this season has got to be an overtime goal scored by Kovy against the Panthers on Feb 13th 2008. They were in a tough defensive game against the Panthers and secondary scoring was ata minimum. They were also on the verge of going on a five game losing streak. Higgins scored with about 5 minutes remaining and Kovy finished it off in OT with an amazing between the leg shot from the right circle beating Vokun low blocker side. Price was amazing, as usual, and I beleieve this win showed the great character and chemistry that this team has. My girlfriend says "I can't believe you actually did the dishes during a game let alone at all!!! Maybe pigs will fly!!! Maybe the habs can score 5 more for the win!" Guest JL Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 For me, there were three major ones, all of which involved the New Jersey Devils and our worst enemy, Martin Brodeur: Jan 24, 2008: Late comeback ends New Jersey curse. Down 3-1 after two periods to the Devils and Brodeur, we scored 3 unanswered goals in the third period to break the spell, outshooting them 20-3 in that period. Mar 1, 2008: Habs jump Devils to take first in the East. Led by young Carey Price with who stopped 31 of the 32 shots sent his way, only a few days after Huet got traded, the Habs proved to be a team to reckon with. Mar 11, 2008: Habs skate past Devils to re-take first. As if one time wasn't enough, we re-take first, beating the Devils for a third straight time (who would have thought?), once again riding the tail of our rookie goalie Carey Price who stopped all 38 shots directed his way. We were down against the Devils and came back to win right. Plus Higgins got the game winner, so any Higgins GW moment is a plus! I also love Komi's breakaway against the Leafs. I was at that game, and felt the lowest of lows (down 5-0) and then the highest of highs!!!! My two other great moments are: Price's shutout of the Flyers - I was also at that game. I couldn't have picked two better games to travel 2000 miles to see!!! I also really enjoyed the comeback against the Devils. I took my youngest to her 1st Habs game vs the Leafs in Nov when Komi scored in o.t. 2. Took my whole family to the Bell Centre 2 c Mtl vs Bos. and Koivu scored in the shootout.. afterwards we met J Demers and C Machabee from RDS... class acts al the way. 3. Took my dad to Mtl and Buf last friday, Higgs in o.t. was the first time he saw the habs win live... so far 3-0 for me this year.. been good..
