Guest gumper
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/children_s_plot By Russ Bynum, The Associated Press WAYCROSS, Ga. - A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward, police said Tuesday. The plot involving as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in south Georgia was a serious threat, Waycross police Chief Tony Tanner said. School officials alerted police Friday after a pupil tipped off a teacher that a girl had brought a weapon to school. Tanner said the students apparently planned to knock the teacher unconscious with a crystal paperweight, bind her with the handcuffs and tape and then stab her with the knife. Anyone else find this disturbing?

tmash
I fixed the title, they never planned to actually kill her (although it may have happened by accident). Anyways, very bizarre and disturbing story.
Guest GoHabsGo_CanucksAreChoking
ah, my teacher told me about this. Freakin' disturbing.. The 8yr olds are masterminds.. Oh, what a lame reason to kill their teacher though! "The children, ages eight to 10, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair, Tanner said." From what it says, I don't think they would really kill her, just a plan to get out their anger, and they would never carry through with it... The teacher was probably concerned he would fall off the chair and hurt himself, so she said "Don't stand on the chair!" or something..

Guest GoHabsGo_CanucksAreChoking
This was just on the news, they showed a basket of the items.. I'm gonna have nightmares, of scary grade 3 kids with broken steak knives, trying to kill me. Nah. I will probably just read a hockey book and forget about it anyways. For some reason whenever I think of this, I think of Patrick Roy's face on a kids body holding a knife. I DON'T KNOW WHY.

dganney
Now think about all the ingenuity and teamwork that went into this scheme, and let's ask ourselves if it could be fostered and harnessed for good.... I believe it could. I am actually "impressed" though shocked by how they managed to organize all this, plan and delegate. Just to provide a different tack, I wonder what kind of school this is, and how absolutely deadened and alienated the kids feel with the world they inhabit, and how terrible that their smarts are turned to this kind of dangerous, destructive scheme. I know for a fact one of my kids would not have functioned properly in a big, impersonal and boring elementary school. He needed to put his mind to things he could care about (constructive things, not kidnapping his teacher), and he went to an alternative school. Over the years, he did very well, and is now tops in math and science at his high school.

Ouch.. and this is what they were going to use for the plan http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/uploa...eacher_plot.jpg ^ This isn't a disturbing picture, by the way. It just shows the items in a basket.
