Guest 1970 Habs
Desperate times call for desperate measures in Boston's case and if Bergeron is cleared to play and tells Julien that he wants in, you better believe that they'll play him. How much of a factor can he be? Remember when Koivu came back from cancer... granted the injury isn't the same, but I wouldn't underestimate the impact he could have on his team though. The latest on Bergeron is he has just been cleared by Doctors to resume physical contact in practice, but he has not been given clearance to return to game action. He will need at least a week to practice with the team which at this time will be difficult with the Bruind playing 3 games in the next 4 days. Source: http://www.nationalpost.com/sports/story.html?id=436757 Boston is not going to rush this guy into action and jeopardize his career. No I highly doubt if you will see Patrice until next season or in late round 2 if they do somehow defeat Montreal in the series (knock on wood that they don't). Guest 1970 Habs
And that's why I said: I love your tone. Well, when he is cleared to play I do not think he will have to tell Claude Julien he wants in. The fact is, he is not even close yet and he will most likely not be game ready for the 1st round of the playoffs. However that is just my opinion whether you want to agree with me or not. You can hear me now? The fact is that RDS seems to be thinking that Bergeron could be back for game 4, as he's scheduled to see the specialist on Monday, but they may try to bump the appointment to Sunday to see if he's ready for game 3. I still think bergeron should watch himself though, he got seriously injured, if he gets hurt again so soon it could ruin his career. BTW, i heard a rumour that chara is playing hurt, supposedly aggravated an old injury. Take it for what it's worth.

The tone in your words obviously. He will still need to get in some practices with the team before it happens I would think though. I guess it is a wait and see. Guest 2VP
Personally Bergeron is a non factor, he hasn't played the tempo that is required to do any difference. Maybe he's god like and will help out in the dressing room. You know, taping sticks, waxing Chara's legs, or giving Savard a spine. And to be honest, unless Boston shows some heart, they don't have a prayer. Am I looking ahead, you bet I am. Any other year and I would not be this confident, but this post season is different. You can see it inthe stands, you can see it in the practice photos (The Gazette), you see it in every goal, and lastly we're freakin due for a good run. It's all coming together. It will take 7 games for any one team to take 4 wins from us. I hate the Bruins, and hope to sweep them. I'll never forget that hit by McLaren on Zednik a few years ago. So any B's fans calling on Begin and his love tap on Savard can misk my ask. I wish I lived in Montreal for just a couple months. I swear if I can convince the wife, I'm going to a game if they make the finals. ANyone have room and board for a uprooted PEI guy that now lives in Brandon MB? Here's to a Royal Canadiens trashing tonight. Bring on those rotten eggs and their 8th place standing. We're going to show you why we are the Eastern Conference Champions tonight so look out. "All Rise" (Shane walks out) Go Canadiens GO Go Infantry God Bless my boys in Afghanistan.

If he showed for game 3 or 4 it would be mostly as an (attempted) morale booster for his teammates. Any other year and I would not be this confident, but this post season is different. Guest AlexK
I was thinking if the Habs do beat Boston and the Rangers win against the Devils then it's likely going to be Habs vs Rangers in the second round. That would be a difficult matchup. Of course we could all root for the Flyers to win against Boston and have Pittsburgh stuck with the Rangers, but I believe Washington will probably win their series. Guest JL
Boston came with a much better effort in game two. They came hard with everything but the kitchen sink and fired 39 shots at Carey Price who's playing like a veteran in net. I loved when he held Brisebois back, signs of a leader. This will be a very much deflated Bruins' team tomorrow as even their best effort came empty. They simply can't match up in talent with Montreal. My only concern now is the apparent potential return of Patrice Bergeron, who is supposed to meet with the specialist tomorrow and could get clearance to play. We all know the impact Koivu had when he came back from cancer... Having said all of that, here's hoping that Carbonneau makes some changes to his line-up for tomorrow's game, a second game in two nights. Get Streit at forward, sit Dandenault, and get Ryan O'Byrne in the line-up on defense. GO HABS GO!

tommyv
the way I see it, Montreal played a lousy game, and Boston played as best they could, and Montreal still managed to win, so If i'm a bruin or a fan, i'm doing the old "uh oh" right about now. Guest habfreak
the difference between the last few seasons and this one showed up tonight: #1 Kovy didn't need a Souray to remind him of his mistake (2004-05), he was the first one to admit that it was a selfish play to take that penalty. #2 The team just didnt surrender after the cpatain went down (2006), Instead veterans like Smokes, Brisebois and Begin stepped up. #3 Not one fan boo-ed the powerplay despite going 0-10 before that winning goal...real classy! We deserve the cup more than any other team this year. maybe I'm biased...but it's pretty obvious to me.
Guest Price4Prez
is it just me or do we play the winner from the PittsburghvsOttawa series??
Guest GoHabsGo9
There are no set matchups for the 2nd round. Once all the winners are decided, they are matched up once again by seed. So if the winners were for example, Habs(1), Caps(3), Pens(2) and Devils(4) we would play the Devils and Pens-Caps. 1 against 4 and 2 against 3. Therefore I think it's impossible for us to play Pittsburgh or WSH 2nd round assuming we advance. The best seeded team we could play would be New Jersey if it worked out like my example. At least I think that's how it works, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Guest russianhabsfan
For now the most probable opponent for the 2nd round is the NYR. Which is the worst and the best possible thing for us. The worst because of our record against them this season and the best because it's going to be the ultimate test for us down the stretch to see if we're for real this spring. Guest AlexK
Lets face it. No second round matchup will be easy. All the teams that I believe are going to advance Rangers, Penguins, and Capitals are all very tuff teams to beat right now. Hopefully Koivu will be back by that time.
