Guest montreal_myk
Ok, so we are tied with Boston 3 games to 3. I honestly think, and I've said it since the end of the season, the worst thing that could have happend to the Habs is to have finished in t 1st place. thing about it. at the beginning of the year, everyone had predicted that the habs would not eveen make it in to the playoffs. I have this weird feeling that because we ended up in first place that we have this extra pressure on the young guys that we must win no matter who we face. i mean let's be honest, does anyone think we can just roll over the rangers or pens? we can't get past the bruins. I don't think so, even thoug we finished 1st. The habs have to start playin as if they finished in 8th instead of 1st.Eveything will go as planned as of then. does anyone have this twilight deja vu feeling like when we elimiated the bruins 3 years ago. remember, they finished first, we were down 3-1 games ans we made it back to win the series in 7. crazy. anyways, i really think that finishing first in the east hurt us more than it helped us. what do you think
Guest Totti
I agree. I think it´s the hardest thing in any sport to come back after you been sluffin off and thinking that you " should win " because we finished first or whatever. You know a full wolf starts to rest but a hungry wolf keep hunting.
Guest scrappyB
I think the canadiens are over-rated the bruins are a far tougher team with a goaltender in a class of his own, so enjoy watching the bruins take game 7, and route them on to the stanley cup, as the canadiens play golf, lol go bruins.......................................................................... .....black and gold baby

"We have no pressure on us right now. We were not expected to be in this situation." Sounds like Montreal in the regular season.
Guest Silentcal
The Bruins have nothing to play for. All the newspapers here in Mass, EXPECTED them to lose this series. Winning the season series 8-0, I believe, gave the Habs a little bit of an inflated head syndrome and took the Bruins way too lightly. Being first is alright, who you end up playing in that eighth seed makes a big difference. If it's a division rival, expect a brutal series. Had it been Philly with the 8th seed, we might not have been staring at a game 7 today.

The habs just arent the same now that they finished first and beat the Bruins 12 times .They're too confident but I tell yah there fully aware what the bruins are capable of doing
Guest hablover
This reminds me of the 72 Summit Series Canada was supposed to cream Russia and we scored 32 seconds in..... Montreal was supposed to cream Bruins and we score 34 seconds in.... Now both those teams are looking (have looked) into the face of elimination.... PLEASE LET'S COME ON TOP LIKE TEAM CANADA! Guest Hattrick
well as it has been said before, Boston is not a bad team either.... if they would have split the games 4 and 4 Boston would have had 102 points and Montreal would have had 96... that says it right there. Anymore these days with the way Gary B has the league running the difference between 1st place and 8th is not much.... I remember the days when you had 90 pts you were almost always in the playoffs... now 92-94 pts, and you might not make it? What's up with that? Ya Montreal was in 1st place, but what does that mean anymore really... what the team won 5 more games the last place... woooooooopeeeee doooo 10 years ago I would have whole heartedly agreed with you, but now... only half of me agrees, but I know where you are coming from. Go HABS!
Guest eukinfindme
does anyone have this twilight deja vu feeling like when we elimiated the bruins 3 years ago. remember, they finished first, we were down 3-1 games ans we made it back to win the series in 7. crazy. and the bruins got rid of THORNTON because of that since it was obvious he couldnt win in the playoffs and show leadership.. Koivu anyone?

Koivu anyone? Ouch, but you do have a point, he's a great player.... but..... As far as Thornton goes now... I don't know if that will still hold true, let's just sit back and see what the Sharks to this year, everyone if favoring them for the cup. ColRouleBleu
Well, with all the talk of the Booins now having the momentum, methinks we're now the underdogs so it's good, we'll win

Koivu anyone? You have got to be kidding me, Koivu is by no means the problem right now, 1st of all he's played 1 game this series and it was a darn good one I must say. If it wasn't for Koivu last nights game would have been 5-1 all over again. If you want to look at people to blame you have a pretty good choice that doesn't include Koivu, how about Kovalev, Price, Markov, Hamrlik, the Kostitsyns all nowhere to be found yet when Montreal went down 4-3 who marched straight down the ice into the corner and set up the tying goal, that's right Koivu. Err that is not entirely true. Price has played great at times. Kovalev has lead the way at times. Andrei and Sergei K have had cluctch goals or assists in some of the Habs victories as well. Lets put Koivu up against the other teams top checking units and let him get banged around all game long for six games and see how he does. Guest montreal_myk
I honestly think that because the habs were expected to win, they haven't been playing well, i really think if they get past the bruins tomorrow, they'll wake up for the other series cuz they know that the pens, rangers and flyers are tough to beat. it's almost like they play better against teams that are tough and have a hard time with teams they should have beaten. Guest justreal
They have no choice but to wake up a little, realize what they have done through the whole season and how hard they've worked to clinch the eastern conf.,....they just can't let all that hard work go to waist, just can't. Tomorrow IT IS their last chance, and especially they r playing home, and have us, at least do it for us!
Guest LarryRobinson
This thread is complete garbage and the general sentiment that "its a bad thing to be number one going into the playoffs" is completely insane. All teams have a moment where they have to take their underdog status and learn to become favorites. Admittedly it might be too soon for this team to play with the motivation of being a contender rather than the motivation of being an underdog. It might be harder to play the contender role because you actually have expectations, but this is not something any team would shy away from. There is only so long you can claim the 'underdog' 'upstart' or 'cinderella' tags. Good teams mature and grow into their own and in doing so become contenders. Being the number 1 seed was the best thing to happen for this franchise in a long time. The whole organization should be proud, and the boys, coaches, and GM need to figure out away to channel there contender status rather than folding under the pressure.
