Need for a lot of the kids to evolve/improve - every position.

Need a #1 winger/center (Sundin would be nice). This player needs to have character!!!

Need a #3 or #4 Dman - Maybe a Mcdough could step in and a Jorges can step in the #4 spot

We need to keep Koivu!!!

We need a better perfomance from Markov and Streit (if he is back), a better perfomance from Price and a better performance from Higgins.

Your right. We need the stars or our best players) to play like stars in the play-offs!!!!

All the players need to be hungry!!!!!

We need 4 defencemen that are fantastic, 1 amazing hot goalie and 1 top line that scores every game.

Markov-Komisarek

Hamrlik- ?????

Price

Markov-Komisarek

Hamrlik- Campbell ? Redden? Liles?

But more probably Markov-Komisarek

Hamrlik, Obyrne.

We need our best players to be our best players, give 110%, play one game at a time, put the puck in the net, skate a full 60 minutes, not give up many rebounds, take advantage of opportunities, create scoring chances, get lucky bounces, and other cliches.

I would be happy if they would do that on a more consistent basis during the regular season too.

Nothing wrong with O'Byrne as he provided another Komisarek type physical presence on the team the last two months of the regular season that helped Montreal finsih 1st in the Conference. However Carboneau removed that from the second pairing for most of the playoffs.

Gorges is solid and I guess I am one of the few who thinks and the first two pairings are just fine until a few of the defensive prospects like Carle, Valentenko, Weber, and McDonagh crack the team.

Couldnt agree more.

I like our defense as is. In fact, I think our team is stonger from the blueline back than it has been since...well maybe the early 90s. I also think we have enough depth in our system to have strong 3rd & 4th lines (maybe adding one CHEAPER version of Smolinski or Bonk wouldnt hurt). Meaning that I believe our ONLY priority right now should be to add a top six (preferably top 3) forward.

I think we'll be definite contenders if Gainey can add just that one puzzle piece this summer.

i really agree with this jedi. i like our d. i think gorges is going to surprise people..all he did was improve last year at a consistent pace. even in the playoffs i was very happy with his work, and we also have OB who played very responsibly in his playoff chances and showed a lot of promise in the reg season. hes a huge guy too which would be great if he became a solid nhl d. we also have some very solid d prospects so although a guy like redden or whoever would be an immediate boost its not like we are dying in our back end.

i also agree the missing piece is the top 6 fwd. for me ideally it would be a winger to play with koivu and sergei K. i like our 1st line from last year, and i would love it if we actually had a guy more offensively gifted than higgins to play on that line so higgins could be a fantastic 3rd liner and we would have a third line that could score AND play defense. thats the kind of lineup that wins cups, look at detroit all those years with draper maltby and mccarty.

you know what though guys? what if our prospects just turn out the way we hope they do? we might not need anything. what if higgins breaks out...SK and AK break out.....i mean the holes in our roster could be self filling! if not this year then next even....either way we have some quality youth and its not one dimensional..we have guys who play different roles, we seem to be in pretty good shape for the next while

We need to add players that fit into our system. Brisebois, I would consider a success this year, and Smolinski, not so much, but definately not a failure.. but we need to keep working on bringing up our younger players, and when we sign players, make damn sure they can match the pace of our team, we're one of the fastest, if not the fastest team, and having players like slowinski doesnt make sense.

Keep: Tom the bomb, Mark Streit, Michael Ryder (if he signs at a discounted rate)

Drop: smolinski, brisebois.

Target: Pavol Demitra, Marian Hossa, Marian Gaborik, Brian Rolston.

I'm not so worried on the back end and in net as I feel we are fairly solid,my main concern this year would to make sure we can lure a top forward and another forward with character.I wouldn't mind seeing Sundin doubt if it will ever happen he would be the forward with character and I wouldn't mind seeing a Jagr or Hossa maybe even a Nash via a trade. That would solve a lot of our problems and surely put us in the drivers seat to have a real good shot at Stanley.
