tmash
I'm not a big Detroit fan (I was hoping for them, but moreso because I didn't want Pittsburgh and their 4 straight top two picks to win it), but honestly: they deserved it. This was an amazing team all season, and in the end they deserved to win it. Also (as a Montreal fan) it's great to see a team who's mostly made up of Europeans, including almost all of their stars, including a European Captain. While I don't like Detroit historically, this was a team that showed supreme skill at both ends of the ice, never resorted to goon tactics, and won it the way I hope Montreal can in the near future. QbGamer
They diffently deserved it.. They finished the season 1st in the nhl with points. They then produced and showed off in the playoff's. They were a great team to watch. They truely deserved to win. Its kinda crazy to think the 1st place team in the east, did soo poorly. When you look @ the first place team in the west dominating each and every team they played

Samu
Congrats to Detroit, a classy organization that knows how to win, just like a certain organization we all know and love used to be and will be again! See you all for the standard free agency "who are we going to get, oh we resigned the Bubble, that's almost like bringing in a free agent" period Cherry must be rolling over in his grave ... Yes maybe him and his Zelots can shut up about all that now as Detroit just won with half of Team Sweden and a European captain.
koreysecord1992
Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings on a well-earned Stanley Cup and to Henrik Zetterberg for an equally well-earned Conn SMythe. and of course to Niklas Lidstrom for becoming the first European captain to win the Cup. A great honor, indeed.
CanadianMike
Congrats to them. I am not a fan, but they have an incredible team. Very happy for Lidstrom (finally they will stop saying a European Captain can't win the cup) and Zetterberg (and YZERMAN!!) There are a few players I don't like and I just had to cringe when it was their turn with the cup (Hasek, Osgood, McCartey, Draper). Oh yeah and GO AARON DOWNEY!!! If there was one ex Hab that I was almost sure would never win a cup......boy was I wrong. Really cool guy (he deserves it!!) It's over!! Bring on the draft!! bailey1
Awesome stuff. If any European was to be the first Captain to win the Cup, who better than the man who wins the Norris almost every single year? Lindstrom, Zetterberg, and the rest of the gang...awesome stuff!!! Thank you for putting the weak/whinny/not as good as Canadian player *****, to rest. Eat that Don Cherry. No Cup for you Crosbaby. Goodbye Bob Cole. Here's to next season LES BOYS!!! Hello EURO 2008!!!! O...AND...P.S. Congrats TSELIOS!!!

johnny_canuck_21
Congratulations to the Wings on their 4th cup in the last 11 years. They are definitely the class of the league right now, and they have a beautiful playing style, based a lot on puck possession. I was reading this morning that they have been in the top 4 seeds for 17 straight years. I'm not sure this is correct, but they are the closest thing to a dynasty that the NHL will possibly ever see again. The days of domination by one team are gone, but Detroit is close. mortwinkler
*sigh* Though I hate the Wings, I would have rather had them win it than the Penguins... Congrats Wings, now give us our Cup back.
