Larry-Launstein-Jr
winning a division gives you a automatic top 3 seed. So Washington would be 3rd not 7th. I'm aware of that. It's just that the top team in that division would have the equivalent of a 7th place overall record. This is where I have an issue with the NHL concerning their playoff format. If you win your division but finish with the seventh best record overall, you should deal with the hand you were dealt. This is not to say a team like Washington couldn't make noise in the playoffs (and they seem capable of doing so), but to elevate them to third over teams with better records than them? I'll leave that question unanswered to promote further debate (maybe in another thread). I"ll do so now.
Larry-Launstein-Jr
To discuss about playoff rankings and about whether a team winning its division but not finishing in the top three overall should get such a lofty ranking, please visit my thread at: http://forum.canadiens.com/index.php?showt...p;#entry1273306 That way, the subject about standings predictions for the Habs can remain in focus on this thread. habsfan512
I think 4th for teh habs but will progress to at least the conference finals- but that is why they play the games- and hopefully we can be more optimistic on the boards this year. habsforthecup
the canadiens won't be as good as last season, but will probably be 3rd in the east, 1st in division and 5th overall.

s-k-11
With sundin 1st without sundin 2nd or 4th ( i think the sens will have a great season if they make a trade for a goaltender)
GIJAYNE
IMO, regardless of any further additions from here on end, we will be fighting for 1-2 with Pittsburgh. I see these two teams as having a mini competition up there, while the rest of the Atlantic and Northeast Divisions fight for 4-8. Until the Caps gave up Huet and signed Jose in nets, I assumed Washington would take 3d place hands down in the Southeast Division. Now, I reckon it'll be a battle for 3d in Conference between the Bolts and Caps.
29Dryden29
I am saying 4th overall in the East for this season. Many teams will now know what to expect from us and will be better prepared to shut down our game.
hickles46
I'd be quite disapointed if we didn't win the division.

Many teams will now know what to expect from us and will be better prepared to shut down our game. ditto and i'll add that as soon as we secure a spot in the playoffs, the team should start to work on preparing for the playoffs and beware of the pedal to the metal race instead of pushing to get 1st place only to start the playoffs on a near empty tank
QbGamer
8th place and we end up winning the cup
captainjack22
8th place and we end up winning the cup BOO-urns, I say no less then fourth, and thats only if Ottawa gets a decent goalie, then we will battle it out with them for first in the division, although that freakin Boston is lookin good also, I know Ryder will tear it up the year, he will play with Savard and score 35.
