It's not a question of the time is now, tomorrow, next year, etc. It's a matter of paying too much. If you're hungry do you go to McDonalds and say "the time is now, give me a Big Mac for $200"? Also, I'm not so sure that the time is now. Yes we finished first in the East, but we also barely got out of the first round, and then got clobbered in the second round by the team that finished seventh in the east. Tanguay will most likely play on the second line. Do you think that he's going to be such a huge improvement over Sergei K that we've got the cup in the bag? If we'd made a signing like Sundin that filled a huge hole for our needs as a team, then I'd agree that we had a strong enough shot at the cup to say now's the time.
