King-Carey-31
Well just because I like Koivu, doesn't mean that's the only reason I don't believe he should be bumped down to the third line. The third line is for guys like Lapierre, Begin, etc., not Koivu. Sundin will most likely get top spot, but Koivu deserves the second line. I think it'll look something like A. Kostitsyn, Sundin, Kovalev Tanguay, Koivu, ??? Here's my theory. Koivu is a first line center on an average team. Koivu is a Second Line Center on a Good team. Koivu is a Third line center on a GREAT team. Besides will he REALLY care if we win the cup??? he'd be accepting it still.
Jtav
Yikes using the .net console methods You can use the standard C++ library #include <iostream> using std::cout; using std::endl; int main() { if(free_agent == nothing) { cout << "Tanguay-Koivu-Higgens" << endl; cout << "Andrei K-Plekanec-Kovalev" << endl; } else if(free_agent == Sundin) { cout << "Tanguay-Koivu-Andrei K" << endl; cout << "Plekanec-Sundin-Kovalev" << endl; cout << "We Rock" << endl; } system("pause"); return 0; } I do belive that .net is a better choice of language when no performence issues are present. If you really don't like microsoft you can use java. Both of those langages are easier to read, write and maintain. As for your lines I think Tanguay-Koivu-Higgens lack a little scoring touch but they are otherwise fine.

I wouldn't use C# for a console application though. I'd use it to write a forms application. C++ standard library is good for console tye of applications and as you say. it's also good for Windows applications such as games that require a lot of horse power at the expense of being able to run it in any environment. But he's definately worthy of second. He's got the talent to do it, he was just matched with crappy lines. This guy has paid his dues to this team, third line is too low for him... Raimu
What you have to consider with Koivu being bumped down to the third line, is if we aquire Sundin, we have ALOT of depth at center. And to be honest, alot of people are throwing around the terms "First line, second line, third line" But on this habs team, I honestly see us Rolling 3 lines which are ALL dangerous and can ALL score. That kind of QUALITY depth is what wins championships. Our "Third line" could be considered as dangerous as some teams first lines. While granted, we won't have an overpowering line like Heatly/Spezza/Alfie, we'll have 3 lines who contribute and that will be too much for teams to defend against. That being said, I'm from Halifax, N.S. hometown of the Halifax Mooseheads, where Alex Tanguay played his junior hockey. Montreal will be here in preseason action vs. Boston (which I have tickets too.). I sencerly hope Montreal decides to dress Alex in a game in the metro center, where he's played many times before and where his name and #18 hang from the rafters above. It'd be great to see Alex score one last goal here. And one last thing, what number will he wear? 18 is retired and 40 is being used, seeing as 40 isnt really his number, I doubt he'll ask Laps to give it to him. Maybe 81? FlHabsFan
If it brings a Championship, Id put Koivu on D if needed (and for the same reason, he would probably accept).... But yeah, 3 quality lines? It would be Line 1 Line 1 Line 1 Line 4 Getting excited for next year. Hopefully Bob can seal the deal with Mats Tang-Sundin-S. Kosti A. Kosti-Pleks-Kovy Higgins-Koivu-? (Grabs?) Kosto-Laps-Begin Get a solid D man in there, Another Hamrlik, and make plans for next summer's playoffs. Having at least 2 solid faceoff winners like this would rock so hard. However, this is the Tanguay discussion and this is moving off topic. Plec is a better 2 way player than Koivu so Plek will make a better 3rd line player. Provide Koivu with good winger and he will be a very good #2 centre - better than Plek.

romy22
I was wondering too....maybe "81". He wore 18 in Colorado (that's retired). He may "buy" #40 from Max... http://canadiens.nhl.com/team/app/?service...rticleid=366845 So, what do I win
atc
is it ethical to put your captain on the 3rd line? Not necessarily. But in this case, Koivu deserves far better support from his wingers than Higgins and Lats/whoever can give. He should play with one of the following: Tanguay, Kovalev, A Kostitsyn. No more excuses, give our captain a good winger, now that we can finally do that.
Bubbles_TPB
Tanguay will most likely use #81. MONTREAL -- Logo first, number second. Deciding he wanted to play for the Canadiens may have been the easy part for Alex Tanguay. The talented winger now has another important choice to make. Acquired from the Flames on Friday, the eight-year NHL veteran is still mulling over what number he will call his own come training camp. “With Serge Savard’s No. 18 already in the rafters at the Bell Centre and Maxim wearing the 40 that I wore in Calgary, I haven’t decided what I’ll wear with the Canadiens, yet,” said Tanguay from his home in Lac-Beauport, before leaving on a golf trip. “I wouldn’t mind the No. 13, but if Mats decides to come to Montreal, I’ll happily to leave it for him. Maybe I can just invert the No. 18 and go with No. 81. We’ll see.” After setting a new career high with 81 points in his first season with the Flames in 2006-07, Tanguay endured an uncharacteristically tough campaign last season. With his 58 points marking his lowest total since 2001-02, Tanguay was ready for a change of scenery.

russianhabsfan
...While granted, we won't have an overpowering line like Heatly/Spezza/Alfie... If we do get Sundin and by any chance get to have a line like Tanguay-Sundin-Kovalev that's definitely more overpowering than Heatly-Alfredson-Spezza *keeps drooling* But I'm equally excited to see Tanguay on any of our top 2 lines. Did anybody notice in the last article on canadiens.com how he says to want to pass down his knowledge to the younger players? Now we have two guru Alexes, one for the eastern europians and one for the north americans.
fourtrax
I'm still baffled as to why Calgary left Tanguay off the power play with his skill and hands. He is going to be a great PP presence along the boards.

pitbull12
Is there going to be/Has there already been a press conference to introduce Tanguay? Or do they not do that in hockey? Normally they don't do it for a trade, but if there is a free agent signing (ie Sundin) they normally hold a press conference.
matt-gt-go-habs-go
Looking forward to seeing Tanguay turn that dissapointing last season around and help us in a run for the cup. He seems really motivated to play for the habs and I bet he'll have a great season. With that being said I hope ppl don't start tearing him apart when he hits a cold streak or takes a little while to get going....but when he gets his confidence he'll be great. I'd guarantee he puts up 50 pts. He did better than that last year, his worst offensive season in the league, on a Calgary team that didn't use him on the PP very much. I'm thinking we should see minimum 65 pts. but hopefully 75-80 pts. from Tanguay. I'm really excited by this addition and if we can get Sundin via free agency then look out for the Habs next season.
