Danny Kristo

AK-1

The frostbite thing was the cherry on top for what has been a horrid season. Having watched about 65-70% of North Dakota's games, I can safely say that Kristo has been garbage. The skating and puck skills are there, and they're good, but he's so physically bad along the boards that he's limited to being a perimeter player, and his decision-making could make Kostitsyn look like a hockey genius.

I'm skeptical that he'll ever be an everyday NHL'er.

Well thats encouraging LOL

Danny has really picked it up as of late.

He has 7 goals and 16 assists in his last 16 games, after a terrible start to his season.

Danny has worked on his defensive game as asked last camp and improved.Hope he can get Aaron Dell to sign with the Habs too.

has montreal signed him yet i also wonder when hell come ply in the ahl with hamilton if he hasn't already or play with the montreal if hes good enough

As far as I know he is not signed to an entry level contract yet. I'm not sure if his intention is to play another year in the U.S. system or to go to Hamilton. I believe he's still on our radar as a prospect with the potential to make the NHL, but I have no idea what the team is planning for him this coming year.

He could really sign at any time, with prospects I never hear rumors that their "close" to signing someone to EL. It could happen sometime tonight for all we know. But it will likely happen (if it does) this summer after we sign Gorges.

Guest habsprospects

He is staying at ND for at least the 2011-12 season, it was announced months ago.

"I just feel like I haven't done everything in college that I needed to," said Kristo, who was in Bismarck on Tuesday as part of the Fighting Sioux Caravan. "I still have a lot left that I can accomplish myself and for the team, too.

"I just thought it was the right place for me," he said.

Even though the Sioux lost a strong group of seniors, many of their top underclassmen will be returning - including Kristo, Ben Blood and Aaron Dell.

"It helped make my decision easier with some friends coming back," Kristo said. [habspropects note - Kristo & Blood are second cousins] "I just went over my options and felt that the team's got a lot to offer next year with some of the guys coming back. We've got a lot of underrated guys that are going to be stepping up into big roles next year. I think we have a real good shot of doing a lot of big things."

"It was like a rollercoaster, a lot of ups and downs," Kristo said. " I had kind of a slow start, a little snakebit there for a while. ... After Christmas I really picked up my game. It's too bad I got hurt, because I was kind of on a roll there, but I just tried to pick up where I left off."

Danny Kristo was named to the NCAA All-American 1st team Right Wing to start the 2011-2012 season. He had two assists in last night's game in Grand Forks ND,at the Icebreaker tournament and could have had four assists. The 1st game of the year they won 4-3 against a tough Air Force team, which puts them in the Championship game tonight.Boston College will be their opponent after they beat Michigan State 5-2 earlier last night.North Dakota were ranked 3rd and Boston College 5th to start Friday night but No.1&2 ranked Notre Dame and Miami both lost their openers. This Icebreaker Tournament is huge for their rankings at the end of the year toward the NCAA Final Four.I'm cheering hard for the Fighting Sioux of N.Dak.with the Habs own Danny Kristo and Mark MacMillan who also got his first point assisting Brock Nelson's game-winner.Go Sioux Go!

what was the decision making for drafting this kid in the second round when it sounds like he should of been a sixth round gamble?

lol what are you talking about?

he's been really solid in the NCAA for the Sioux 36 points in 41 and 28 in 34 during a rough year due to frost bite and other things

Exactly. Still, we'll have to see him play in the pros before judging from now, but his development has been decent so far. Last year was a disappointment in comparison to his freshman year, but that's still no reason to completely write him off.

This year should be the year where Kristo plays as one of UND's best players before making the jump to the pros next season.

that sounds great and everything but like i said not much talent in hockey in the NCAA not saying nobody good has come out of he NCAA either, its just not talent rich

I really don't get your argument. Its just as good as the CHL, from what I've heard. Less games but the competition is much older.

how can it be close to the chl at all? look at all the future stars in the chl and there might be a handful in the NCAA, i just dont see how it would be close if the competetion is vastly different, im pretty sure the saint john seadogs would have thier way with most teams in the NCAA

First of all, There may be a ton of stars, but they havent had as much time to develop, over all the players are smaller i believe than the NCAA (22 year olds as opposed to 18 19, secondly saint john was pretty stacked. I just feel like you are discounting a league that has produced a ton of great players.

I'm not at all, i recognize what the NCAA has produced rick dipetrio was picked first overall and was amazing before his injuries what i'm saying is that the chl has produced more and i would have a better feeling for kristo had he played in the chl that's all
