madsprite18
HAMILTON, ON – Hamilton Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford announced today the team’s 80-game 2008-2009 regular season schedule. The ‘Dogs will open their 13th AHL season at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where they’ll meet the Moose in back-to-back games on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11. The Bulldogs will then return to Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, where they will host the Hartford Wolf Pack in their 2008-2009 home opener on Friday, October 17. On Wednesday, January 14, the Hamilton Bulldogs play their 1000th regular season game in franchise history when they welcome the Grand Rapids Griffins to Copps Coliseum. Hamilton’s 2008-2009 regular season schedule is the most diverse in franchise history as the Bulldogs will battle 20 different opponents. Of the 80 games on Hamilton’s regular season schedule, 50 are against North Division rivals. The Bulldogs will take on the Toronto Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs) twelve times, the Lake Erie Monsters (Colorado Avalanche), Manitoba Moose (Vancouver Canucks), Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers) and Syracuse Crunch (Columbus Blue Jackets) eight times each and the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings) six times. The AHL’s 2007 Calder Cup Champions from Hamilton will also combat seven of the eight teams in the Western Conference’s West Division, including the AHL’s 2008 Calder Cup Champions from Chicago. The Bulldogs will battle the defending champion Wolves (Atlanta Thrashers), Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild), Iowa Chops (Anaheim Ducks), Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators), Peoria Rivermen (St. Louis Blues), Quad City Flames (Calgary Flames) and San Antonio Rampage (Phoenix Coyotes) two times each. The Bulldogs will also square off with the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning). Norfolk is the only current AHL market that the Hamilton has not visited. The Bulldogs’ two scheduled contests with the Admirals in 2008-2009 will mark the first-ever meetings between the two teams since the Admirals became an AHL member club in 2000-2001. Hamilton’s list of opponents for the 2008-2009 season also includes two teams from the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division. The Bulldogs will take on the Hartford Wolf Pack (New York Rangers) and the Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings) two times each. Of the club’s 40 home games, 30 will take place on weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and 10 will take place on weeknights (Tuesday and Wednesday).
