Name The B-dogs 08-09 Starting Roster" Contest

Recommended Posts

I think Flunky has a good idea so I have started a New Topic on his behalf.

How about we start up a "name the B-Dogs 08-09 starting roster" contest.

Everybody gets to submit a squad, and we see who gets the closest to the actual opening night starting line-up.

Nothing on the line, just bragging rights.

Besides, there hasn't been a decent new thread here for awhile anyhoo.

As Flunky aptly put it do your projected line ups and I will correlate the results. The deadline for submissions will be the beginning of the Habs Training Camp (20 September). I will PIN the topic if there are 10 or more posts. If there is no interest I will shut it down.

I am interested to see how it runs. :D

15 forwards and 8 defensemen?

15 forwards and 8 defensemen?

I have included players from the ECHL Champions in Cincinatti that will be vying for a spot on the Dogs roster.

I believe last year the Dogs carried 22 players. The goalies are set with Denis and Desjardins so that makes 2.

So of the remaining 20 create 4 forward lines, 3 defencemen pairings, and the two projected spares.

I know it will be somewhat more of a challenge; but it will apply for everyone though.

So we just list the players we think will make the team?

I would say yes but I went back to Flunky's original post and he suggested it be the starting line up for opening night.

"Everybody gets to submit a squad, and we see who gets the closest to the actual opening night starting line-up."

So that makes it more of a challenge.

He did call it the "roster challenge" also and "squad" implies many......I'm in either way it should be fun. Maybe you and Flunky can clarify.

Is the list above the projected players? I mean there is only 23 guys there... not much to pick from.

Since there aren't that many players to choose from to begin with (approx.23 players as of now), I thought that the starting line-up on opening night (20 players) would be more challenging.

And considering that there will still probably be multiple identical line-ups, I suggest a tie breaker format where each entrant also predicts the first B-Dogs goal of the regular season, with scorer, assists and time of the goal.

I thought youd have to make your own starting lineup like this:

Forwards:

Glumac- Yannick Lehoux- Pacioretty

Agostini- David Desharnais- Thomas Beauregard

Latendresse -Ben Maxwell- Wyman

Aubin- Ryan White- Stewart

Defence:

Carle- Valentenko

Weber- Belle

Anderson- Martin

I thought whoever got closest to opening nights starting roster would win.

Here's what I expect to see on opening night.

Pacioretty - Lehoux - D'Agostini

Latendresse - Desharnais - Glumac

Stewart - White - Beauregard

Wyman - Maxwell - Trotter

Carle - Anderson

Henry - Valentenko

Weber - Belle

Denis

Desjardins

By the way, isn't Martin gone?

This is what we are looking for so just follow Js2's format.

As Flunky posted earlier a tie breaker may occur so if everyone could predict on first B-Dogs goal of the regular season, 1) the time of the goal, 2) the scorer, 3) the players assisting on the goal.

Anyone think that we will need a second tie breaker?

Starting Roster

Forward Lines

D'Agostini-Lehoux-Pacioretty

Glumac-Maxwell-O. Latendresse

Stewart-White-Wyman

Flinn-Desharnais-Trotter

Spare forward - Aubin

Martin - Valentenko

Belle - Carle

Henry - Weber

Spare defencemen - Anderson

Goalies

Denis (#1)

Desjardins (Back-up)

Even though the schedule has the Dogs first two games on the road I am looking at the home opener as the game to use for the contest

1. Friday, October 10, 2008, 8:30 p.m. – Hamilton Bulldogs at Manitoba Moose (2008-2009 season opener)

2. Saturday, October 11, 2008, 8:30 p.m. – Hamilton Bulldogs at Manitoba Moose

3. Friday, October 17, 2008, 7:30 p.m. – Hartford Wolf Pack at Hamilton Bulldogs (2008-2009 home opener)

For the tie breaker.

I predict the first goal will be scored by Max Pacioretty and assisted by Lehoux and D'Agostini at 10:15 of the 1st period.
