fourtrax
seriously...i was a goalie coach for some 13 yr old mthl kids a couple years ago and they were all bigger than me josh is a gamer and he is gonna play his way into our top 4. rocket is right, he was taking hits to make plays, thats the guy you want on your team. he knows what needs to be done out there and its team first. score the first goal of the year on friday josh The problem with Gorges, which isn't really a problem with him per se, is that he doesn't bring offense to the table. Now, that'd be fine if Hamrlik were bringing the heat, but Hamrlik wasn't exactly an offensive juggernaut last year, which means that whoever rounds out the top-4 has to have some offensive ability. Either that or Hammer has to produce more points this season.

dc_123_msn_com
ya that was unfortunate that was a bad break, but other than that, gorges has been quietly efficient and im loving it.
puckoff1
ya the flyers got lucky on that, whoever it was that shot fanned on it and totally threw off both gorges and price. they were both in position to handle a big blast, it shuold have just been a routine play. tough break, wouldnt fault either guy on that. the philly announcers were like...ohh see how he took a little bit off the shot to create that rebound?! freaking center ice, i hate some of the idiotic color guys you have to listen to sometimes. lol
Innis_Mor
... or Hammer has to produce more points this season. His 2nd "4th man in the rush" goal last night, in 3 games. Looks promising!!
kjdriedger
He's looked very strong. Good lead passes. For this season, it is no wonder the young kids could not make it. The seven D the Habs are carrying are the top overall unit in the league IMO - from top to bottom. Gorges has upped his game. O'byrne not as noticeable. But what a great blend. I don't think I have seen a unit so reliable on one one one's and two on two's since the Habs of the 70's.

I think reliability in the defensive zone for Josh overcomes any offensive short-comings he may have...this team is loaded with guys who can carry the puck up the ice....I'd rather have his steadiness in our end....what a great trade BG made to get this kid along with Pac..and now that Laraque is around people won't mess with our 'smaller' guys as much
Kravchenko
What was up with Gorges switching helmets with Price at the end of the game? They be buds Josh is a solid defensive defensemen. Very glad to have him.
risteenhuis
Very solid defenceman. Hardly notice him. Therefore he must be making very few mistakes. Impressive for such a young defenceman. The helmet exchange was interesting. Maybe something was said by Josh about the saves being easy so Price was going to let Josh play in net. Just my guess why the helmets were exchanged.
tmash
How on earth after 5 games is Gorges -3 and his defensive partner is +2? I realize guys get separated sometimes, but this seems like too big of a difference.

JHaul
Overall Gorges has been "ok" this season, but to me he seemed to struggle a bit last game. I noticed him with a few turnovers and was a bit out of position at times. Stood out as one of the few guys that had a tough time. Hopefully he'll shake the nerves or whatever it is soon. On the lighter side of things, the antics between he and Price lately really crack me up. Something I now look for at the end of games.
QbGamer
He really needs to score a goal... I know it wouldnt be that big of a deal to us, but im sure once he gets the whole not scoring in over 1.5 yrs on the team with us, im sure its a big joke to everyone else

I know it wouldnt be that big of a deal to us, but im sure once he gets the whole not scoring in over 1.5 yrs on the team with us, im sure its a big joke to everyone else Gorges appears to be the 4th D. Seems to get ice time against top players and PK. Smart player and shows some of the leadership that made him the captain of his junior team. Gorges will stick up for his teammates even though he is not BGL type of player. His improvement over the past 1.5 seasons is impressive. It is strange that Gorges does not have a goal as it appears that his point shot is as good as Bouillon or O'Byrne and those players have a few goals over the past 1.5 seasons. Gorges will probably score 3 to 6 goals this season. They will simply happen. I am not worried if Gorges gets zero goals or 10 goals. His game is so good in our end that we can count on less goals against when Gorges is on the ice playing 5 on 5.
QbGamer
I know this much i make fun of him on a nightly basis for not scoring a goal, imagine his team mates LOL Im sure he will eventually score a goal, i just really hope its sooner rather then later

I realize guys get separated sometimes, but this seems like too big of a difference. I'm tempted to blieve he has the lowest minus of the team because he never plays on the PowerPlay and oftenly plays on the penalty kill. He could also be a bad luck, the season just started after all. Josh is still my favorite habs.
puckoff1
when bouillon scored the other day i was flipping out cause i thought it was him lol. its coming...josh made a really nice play pinching in against the ducks, hes slick. good skater, makes nice passes. points and hopefully a goal or 2 will come, hes takking over the 4 spot as per my MMW

You don't get a + if your team scores on the PP, and you don't get a minus if you're scored on during a PK. Gorges is either A] not playing well in his zone, or B] is having bad luck with the stat. I am inclined to believe it is the latter.
