#51 - Francis Bouillon 2008-09

AK-1

Recommended Posts

In my opinion, Bouillon is having one of his best starts to the season that I can recall. He's playing with great composure, he's physical and moves the puck pretty well out of his zone. I guess his leg injury last year really slowed him down. Good to see him play that way.

  • 2 weeks later...
he couldnt get his gun loose in that tilt with ruutu, and he knew it by his reaction afterwards

Unfortuantely, Ruutu had much more height and reach than Bouillon making it difficult for him to get free and land some blows. It's just too bad Bouillon couldn't have gotten him harder on the take-down. Ruutu deserves a smack in the face for his repeated actions in the NHL, and I hope Lapierre lands a solid bodycheck on him next game!

What happened to Bouillon?

Was standing in our end and took a puck to the throat. He dropped to the ice right away and got up quickly and went right to the bench and down the corridor/hall and was hunched over holding his neck until the trainer got to him. Apparently he's okay now.

Just to correct that, he got hit in the cheekbone with the puck and not the throat. But he was in fact having a hard time breathing. 5 stitches later and he's doing alright.

Also to quote him he said that he was really glad the puck hit him flat in the face as opposed to from the side.

Very good to hear indeed.

Guh that was scary... Trent McCleary scary... But the fact he got up and ran off the ice gave me hope...

Damn, that actually scared me the most. It reminded me of Zednik and kind of confirmed that he got hit right in the throat and had trouble breathing (even tho he apparently got hit on the cheek). This could have ended his career if unlucky enough...

Whoa, I watched the replay on TSN/RDS and thank goodness that wasn't worse than it was. Bouillon has been having a good start to the season and the last thing we/he needed was getting a serious injury to the face or throat. Glad he's okay!

Trent McCleary did essentially the same thing. He skated off the ice right after the puck hit him and then collapsed in the tunnel as his throat swelled shut a few seconds later. I saw Bouillon do something similar. He skated off off the ice and did not get very far down the tunnel before he stopped. I have to admit that had me worried.

Thankfully, it was not that bad and he is one tough hombre so I look forward to seeing him in the lineup tomorrow or Thursday.
