NHL leaders in Plus-Minus, after approx. 17 games:

Ovechkin and Semin (tied), at +17.

Next best in the NHL is only +11

A tough nut to contemplate, if you're the opposing Coach, going into a game against these two healthy -- statistically, you're down a goal before the puck is even dropped!! :D

I am jealous of Washington. There team is so awesome, and Ovechkin is the best player in the world. They also seem to have a slue of great character players who fill in the 3rd and 4th lines, playing hard, and contributing. Washington is a perfect example of how to rebuild a hockey club!

Finish in the bottom of the league and get top picks such as Bakstrom and Ovechkin?

What's Detroit's excuse?

Now to the news:

Green emerging as strong Norris Trophy candidate

Despite missing 13 games..................

"He leads all NHL defenders in goals (16), power-play goals (12) and points (42), but also ranks fourth with a career-high plus-19 rating this season."

Hey... When you're bad, you're bad... ;) You gotta start somewhere. I mean, I would much rather have Ovechkin and co. than half of our players. Someone was mentioning that they need to start having an equally weighted lottery for every team that misses the post-season, thus... Not letting teams fight for last. Also, if you have a poor manager he cannot find successes in being bad and getting the 1st overall choice year after year. I like this idea.

Its one of the most questionable debates in sports at the moment, is it worth losing today to win tomorrow? I stand on the side of never forfeiting a season because you're supposed to try and win every season, otherwise you have no point being in the league.
