Gagné Brière Hartnell

Lupul Richards Knuble

Upshall Carter Giroux

Asham Metropolit Cote/Downie

Coburn Timonen

Berard Eminger

Jones Vaananen/Kukonen/Parent

Biron

Nittymaki

the Flyers definitely have something to challenge for the first place in the East.

They will be competitive, I think. Just my opinion, but in the end I don't think their defense and goaltending will carry them far enough. Habs showed they currently out-skate this team (last play-offs, Flyers without Gagne, at the time).

The East will close gap a little this season, vs. the West, in part, due to teams such as Philly being a bit better.

Flyers defensive play must be continuing poor. Bet they can't wait for Hatcher to get back -- he's so good!!

Team's given up 5 goals to San Jose tonight. Oh, and there is still a period to play.

And still lost, in a shootout at 7-6. Dunno what was wrong with the Sharks there, blowing a 6-4 lead (and Nabby's SV% is awful on that one, wow)... but nevermind. Niittymaki was pulled after allowing 4 goals on 15, Biron allowed 2 on 20 and both shootout attempts.

One problem, goalies are out of position. Another is no one is cleaning up on rebounds and the puck trickles away. Plus there's no real defense...

Did you see Biron on those two goals against him? Wow! Ever soft goals. Now why couldn't he play like that in the play-offs last season against the Habs? :D

Love the sports highlights last night ... they finish off the package with a long shot of Coach Stevens looking rather worried (for his job, I guess), behind the bench. No words / commentary -- just the long video shot. :D (I guess these sports highlight package guys gotta have some fun! )

"The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have acquired 6'0", 205-pound defenseman Matt Carle and the San Jose Sharks' third round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Steve Eminger, Steve Downie and Tampa Bay's fourth round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren."

Groin strain to sideline Briere 4-5 weeks

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=395924

Looks like Briere came back too soon from his previous injury. He has played only 9 of 24 games this season and is set to miss another 12-15 games with this current set back. If he keeps going at this rate he will be lucky if he plays 40 games this season.

Flyers' Briere to miss 2 more weeks after surgery

Flyers center Danny Briere will miss another two weeks because of lingering discomfort in his groin and stomach area. Briere has played only nine games this season and just finished a three-game minor league conditioning stint with Philadelphia's AHL affiliate.

He will have exploratory surgery Thursday. Briere had surgery Oct. 25 on a torn abdominal muscle and left a Dec. 2 game against Tampa Bay with a groin injury.

Looks like Briere is facing more complications.

I'm going to the Habs/Philly game on friday at the Wachovia centre. This will be my first ever Road game as a Habs fan. I'm kinda nervous as I've heard Flyers fans can be pretty rough. anyone has any suggestions/tips to help me come back in one piece? :D

I was at the game too, there were tons of you guys there. Most away fans I've ever seen in our building, despite many teams being closer.
