SteenIsThaFuture
On the Hotstove they were talking about the NYI being in heavy financial crisis, imagine if a franchise with a history like that have to relocate. At least they'll shed that pititful ownership.

hockey_gal89
Joey MacDonald Joey MacDonald is listed as injured for 2 to 4 weeks, DiPietro is out indefinitely...Sabourin is out there for cheap...If I'm Snow, I'd do Jeff Tambellini for Dany Sabourin...That's fair. If he can get Sabourin for future considerations, I say do that first.

SteenIsThaFuture
As power plays go, the Islanders’ wink-wink confirmation of a planned preseason game in Kansas City—and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman’s sympathetic comments about needing to replace “that building” in Nassau County --wouldn’t get past the red line of most skeptics. We are supposed to make the leap from public knowledge that owner Charles Wang’s “Lighthouse Project” plan to redo Nassau Coliseum is on hold, to the fact that Kansas City has a spanking new arena actively in search of an NHL team. But experts in the matter are tolerably certain that a franchise move is virtually nonexistent, though this well-worn ploy and the veiled-threat manner in which it was presented is not the least big surprising. “The typical playbook is that teams never come out and say, ‘We’re going to move if you don’t do this for us.’ Fans get angry when you do that,” said Neil deMause, co-author of “Field of Schemes: How the Great Stadium Swindle Turns Public Money Into Private Profit.’’ -Newsday

Yeah. Or that would qualify for the worst name ever, heh. Wonder if they would call themselves "the Chiefs". It would make things interesting for a little bit. I say go back to Kansas City Scouts...But Kansas City Chiefs works too...But they'd have to do the Jerseys in either the NFL Chief colors or, The Charleston Chiefs from Slap Shot... DA_Champion
Looking up for this team. - Great signing in Mark Streit, good man to have as part of the core going forward. - Rick Dipietro comes back next year - They have a lot of young guys developing slowly. - They pick up Victor Hedman or John Tavarez next year - They also get San Jose's 1st rounder this year, they get the Bruins' 2nd rounder, they get Toronto's 2nd rounder (5 picks in the first two rounds), and they get a 3rd, 4th or 5th rounder due to the Bill Guerin trade. - They are 10 million dollars below the salary cap now, with 12 UFAs at the end of this year, giving them the ability to make a splash in this UFA season - Their AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have 38 wins and 84 points in 64 games

They have quantity but not quality.
tmash
Officially became the first team eliminated from the playoffs in the past couple of days. Note: this is simply by points, if you start looking at teams playing each other and the fact that someone has to get 2 points from each one, they were probably eliminated a while ago. But by points, it was only in the past couple of days.

habs1119
They have an enviable position. They have an owner who cares (maybe a little too much) and the #1 pick. Some say they should trade down one spot and snag anpther 1st this year. But go for Tavares, with the talent pool they have now, he's going to be their best bet to pull that team together into a playoff contender. They'll still have another horrible year in front of them so they should get a top 10 next year as well, then they'll be lined up for a good run in year 4 and maybe by the time they have a new rink.
