Flunky
As much as I complain about ole Breezy, he's still a helluva bargain. Last year, we got 62 NHL games out of him for a base salary of $750,000. You do the math. In today's NHL, that's highway robbery. FYI: We paid Schneider $1.7 mil just for the stretch run last year. I bet every team would love to have a local veteran player who lives in town, and who is willing to sign for peanuts and accept whatever role is given to him. If I was Gainey, I'd re-sign him because you couldn't find a cheaper insurance policy anywhere.

Since we are not a contender,it would be foolish to bring him back, regardless of his contract.that's just valuable playing time he'd be taking away from a Weber,O'byrne,Carle,Janik or Emelin if he came over. mortwinkler
Did Carbs have a lot to do with brining Breezer back? Maybe the new coach will realize that he's more of a liability than an asset.

And that is why Bob said what he said about the team maybe only being finalized by September or October. Same thing happened last year, Brisebois only signed towards the very end. You have to wait and see how the rest of the team takes shape over the summer before you talk to guys like Patrice and Dandenault. I really didn't think those comments were as big a deal as a lot of guys were making it out to be.

habsnyc
with the signing of Mara, montreal now has seven defensemen under contract with two prospects who could make the jump to the NHL. I guess Brisebois will not be back for 09-010.

I guess Brisebois will not be back for 09-010. Thank God. Breezer did well in 07-08, but 08-09 was a clear sign that he should hang his skates up. He was only occasionally effective, and overpaid for a 7th d-man role at $1.5 million. Thanks for the hard work, Patrice, and best of luck in all your future endeavors. Guest
Poor Beezer took a lot of abuse his first time around in Montreal. I was glad he got a second shot with the Habs. I'm not sure he'll play again in the NHL so its nice for him to have finished his career as a Hab ( if that indeed happens). He wore the sweater with pride and i will remember him as a team guy first and foremost. Good luck Beezer.
QbGamer
Has he come out and stated that he would like to retire? Or is he still hoping a team is going to pick him up?
Brisebois
Brisebois offically reitred from the NHL. Thank you for everything Breezer, you're a true Habs player, bleeding bleu-blanc-et-rouge.

Kubby31
This is to coolllllll.....Patrice coming to my home-town (St.John,N.B.) as part of the N.H.L. LENGENDS tour....will be playing in a game with Guy Lafleur among others. As I always attend these events to get as many signatures as possible from past hab legends (for my stanley cup banner),though Patrice is recently retired....will set out to meet him at the rink. Looking forward in meeting up with him. Nov.25th/
Kubby31
Another name from the past to add to the post above is netminder Richard Sevigny...remember him..played along with Steve Penny & Michel Larocque to name a few back in 1980-84 era. Just before a dude named Patrick Roy arrived on the scene... Sorry to get off track on this thread. Looking forward to hopefully meeting Brisebois & the others mentioned.
