flames4eva
I would love to see Patrice have a real comeback year... his "swan-song" as they say (even though I haven't got a clue what swans singing has to do with anything but swans). And I believe he could do just that if confidence is behind him playing in the No. 4 slot with Hamrlik. He played there a lot last year and was one of our better d-men during the play-offs IMO. He could be no worse than Streit at the point on the second PP unit and I believe even better all-around at defense. Though I still cringe at times when he has an occasional brain-cramp, I would still be fairly confortable seeing him playing on a more regular basis than last year... providing he can remain healthy. In lieu of a trade that brings the Habs another top-four d-man, Breezer is a very satifactiory option at this point.

Kindred
Ha, so where are the haters now? banned, suspended, licking their wounds, take your pick If he plays more then 30 games this season it's because we are riddled with injurys or because our defenseman like O'byrne or Gorges are still wet behind the ears. Breezer is 50+ games away from 1000... I think Carbs and Gainey may want to see him reach that plateau this season. Whether that is in a part-time or full-time capacity... that is the question. DA_Champion
Brisebois is doing better now than before as he has a specific niche to fill, and the defense corps are better in general.

Whether that is in a part-time or full-time capacity... that is the question. I honestly don't think Brisebois is going to make it to 1000 games this season. I'm just not sure he can stand up to injury that well. I imagine he will get close to 40 games in, but won't make 50 unless we go deep into the post-season, at which point I'm not sure if his 1000 game plateau is regular season games or games in general. He has 948 regular season, and 97 playoff games. He only played 43 games last year, and 33 the year before because of injuries. I hope we don't have to use him for 53 games this year, as it is only hindering the development of other players, unless of course there are a lot of injuries. I think you are right about the injuries, and that alone will prevent him from reaching 1000 this year. How much does anybody want to bet that he won't be resigned again next year so that he can reach the 1000 game mark. If that's the case, I would just prefer that he reach it this year so that he can retire at the end of the year. Maybe Carbonneau can use him up front. Their time will come... if Breezer plays more often I believe he will play up to snuff... injury is the only thing that would concern me at this point. We are going for the win NOW and as for now, Breezer's veteran presence and powerplay creativity are more useful than giving NHL icetime to guys like Weber and my man Valenrhino. Next year, depending on how Bob solves the UFA summer, we might see more than one youngster, but for now, Breezer is stealing no one's time. fourtrax
Honestly, people need to get 'developing the prospects' off the brain. We are trying to put together a Cup run THIS YEAR. Development, for the first time in forever, is no longer the top priority.
e209
breis's savy and knowledge will definetly help this team especially on the pp. we can only hope his knowledge wares off on some of the youth
cujofan311
i like how he moves the puck up and out quickly and has a bit more offensive upside than gorges, o'byrne and bouillon. I hope he gets his 1000 games as long is doesn't hurt the team.
