TORHABSFAN
Hey guys, I was reading in the Toronto Star that the Leafs have just purchased a new 8.3 million dollar HD video scoreboard. This new screen is 45 % larger then the previous one which was already quite large. Its LCD based and has 4 huge screns percide that join into 1 picture. untop of the 4 sides screens there are 8 smallers screens. there is also pixcel video boards on the top and bottom of this bad boy. I think it will look like Nashvilles new board that can been scene here. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt..._CA236%26sa%3DN So I was thinking. The LEafs now old board was already a few years newer then ours. I like our scoreboard quite a bit but I can't help but wonder is it time to move to a new larger HD board.. Do we need it, should we keep up with the Jones.. or is it a waste?
leafs_rock_go_mccabe
I guess, at some point, every building in the league will have one, so we might as well get it now.

bailey1
Would the score board count against the Cap? I'm pretty sure those things cost around $3-million dollars. "Let it stretch", for me.

"Let it stretch", for me. Well actualy the Leafs new board is costing them 8.3 million. For me Its not all that important but it would be a nice touch especialy now for the Centenial and for our Cup Year! Yeah its alot of money but it will be spent eventualy on one of these and Gillette is getting a lot of added revenue this year anyways with the Centenial Plaza brick sales, the All star game and Skills comp ticket sales, the Draft next year, a longer playoff drive that will result in a Cup!!! and there is now even talk about a outdoor game vs. the Rangers at Molson stadium before the all star game. If ever there was a bunch of extra cash avialble to be speant its now.
Krusher55
I don't see why Gillet shouldn't be trying to improve the stadium for the fans. We showed that we can consistently sell out the biggest hockey stadium in the league, why wouldn't we deserve one? He'd probably use it as an excuse to raise ticket prices again though

SteenIsThaFuture
The Leafs do pull it more money than we do, so they can make these kind of enhancements.
Krusher55
The Leafs do pull it more money than we do, so they can make these kind of enhancements. i don't know, they don't have playoffs to pull in extra cash (not for a while now anyway), we may actually pull ahead in the next few years. I wonder how much money the organization pulled in with those car flags.

LeafHater
yup the leafs nead more new and big flashy things to distract the fans from what's really happening on the ice. Seriously, i'ld rather the focus be on the product, not what the product is shown on. We will eventually get a new one but i don't think its something that we need to jump on. I'ld rather focus on the game rather then on the pixelated things going on (though i had a right answer to one of those quizes things when i went to the game last time but decided to do it last minute and missed the text number...i could have won like i think it was 200$ certificate for the habs store errrrr). ColRouleBleu
Personally I dont really care, as long as they dont hide the score, clock and shots count continuously with ads like i've seen in, was it buffalo or boston (or both?) ... it's aggravating to lookup to check the numbers during the commercial breaks only to find boring ads
Kristopher7
I don't mind the current scoreboard at all, but the HD ones are pretty sexy.

Now I know these reports must be completely falsified by the accotuing department, but Gillet reports that he just broke even this year.

TORHABSFAN
Now I know these reports must be completely falsified by the accotuing department, but Gillet reports that he just broke even this year. The $381.00 tickets prices where for the Leafs not the Canadiens... I was saying with the Leafs ticket prices they don't need to make the playoffs to make the most money. But as much as I like Mr. Gillet and respect him I don't believe the habs just broke even with the added revenue of the 6 extra playoff dates and sales of bricks for the plaza and new RBK edge jerseys..+ The Canadian dollar going up so much in the last 2 years basicly from 60 cents to par and brielfy well over par. The NHL has claimed revenues went up huge and it was baised on the Canadian teams. Well we all know the Canadians are #2 among Canadian teams in revenue with the 2ng highest ticket prices and the highest attendace. I remeber Gillet saying a few years ago that he just broke even.. well with all that extra revenue I find it hard to believe that to be the case again. Perhaps he just broke even around several buisness he owns but the Canadiens are a money maker no doubt about it. That looks a little bit like the new one we just got here in Calgary. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/141/3348175...aaff17b.jpg?v=0 I like the one here, and I vote yes to a new one in mtl that board look sweet. Innis_Mor
For the Leafs, it is for the Platinum seats as they watch the game from the glassed bar, they don't actually sit in their seats (lowest rows, centre ice) . I'd rather the Habs just get me my own HDef for my home!
