Guest
I havent seen any of the pre season games, but from what i've heard and read, Dandy didnt look too bad on D last night. Does this raise his stock with the team or does it make him a more attractive trade asset?? It still wouldnt surprise me if he makes the roster as that utility guy that Streit played as last season. habs_10
Well , I voted for Latendresse. It boggles my mind how he keeps making the roster. I've heard he worked on his training this past summer, so I'm hoping it makes a difference in his game, but i'm astonished how he made it last year vs. chipchura being there. Guess we have to put up a mediocre French player over a more worthy player because of where we are...but that's my opinion GO HABS GO

Well, one thing to keep in mind is that Dandenault really doesn't have the offesnive abilities that Streit had, which makes him far less valuable than Streit, in my opinion. Yes thats true. I simply meant versatility,,, as in being able to play 2 positions,,, and the advantage that gives a team with injuries. He certainly couldn't fill Streit's shoes on the PP. I also don't see why management should trade him for supposed "under-achievements" when it was management/coaching who rushed him to the NHL wrongfully. The dude is young, and is working towards being a good power forward... Trading him would be foolish. I say... TRADE Dandenault!

Hold on, I'm not a Lats Hater as you would say. read my quote carefully. I said, i heard he lost weight and trying to improve, hopefully that works, but in the past, he's done nothing worthy of being on this team. If he has improved and he can contribute to the Habs i hope do well, then all the better, but he hasn't don anything in the past. HabsFanInCalgary
I voted for Chips to be sent to Hamilton. I'd prefer to see him get ice time and develop as opposed to watching from the press box every other night. Aside from that I figure the Habs will move one of our D-men, if not 2 depending on how well some of their 'prospects' play in the pre-season. I like O'Byrne and Gorges as well. Dandy could be good bait for a prospect. I would keep Lats until I see him play w/ his new found skating skills. Could have moved him up a notch in my book if he's improved as much as I've heard. Not really a Lats hater, just do not understand why he was moved to the NHL so soon if he could have benefited from another year or two w/ the Dogs. I'd keep Lapierre because he's a Sean Avery type of player. Aggravates the hell out of the other team, but works hard and picks up points <not too many, but good enough to fill the role>. Begin is great at shot blocking and ALWAYS works hard. Kostopolous <?> is good grinder <again hard worker>. Too many choices. I still think if Chips isn't going to be a regular, we should let him play in Hamilton.

chromedome_mtl
He has... according to his coach and many fans who are quite satisfied with his progression... self-included Yes ,but you don't have the obvious anti-French -Canadian bias that some have!Anyway,I'd have to admit that I have not yet been able to figure out why Lats was given a "by" as far as progressing to the NHL level, but I don't have a problem with continuance in his development towards the ultimate "power-forward" mantle he is expected to assume! If his supposed off-season training has accomplished the desired effects and helped "speed" him to this end, then we are winners! tony1234
Alot voted for Chip to be sent down, which would not be a bad thing if he has to split time in the NHL. But I also feel he could be involved in a trade too. He was reported a couple of time to be desired (rumours I know but ), so if Bob does not see him making it this year he may let him go somewhere he will. To let go a 1st round draft pick would be something, however it's hard to believe he has already spent most of the last three seasons playing for the BullDogs... it's most likely now or never for his career and if there's still value there it may not be a bad idea for BG to move him if he isn't in the plans for the Canadiens this year. I'm sure there would be some interesting offers out there.

HABFANDOG
he didnt look too comfortable lastnight well i would disagree. watched the game last night and thought dandy looked pretty good. if anything i felt laps wasn't looking all that strong last night. seems he's starting thet same way he did last pre season......he may be the one to start in hamilton just like last season. laps is notorious for needing a good wake up call from time to time, then he turns it on. That said, it is possible that a player like Lapierre could find himself in Hamilton to start the season. At this point I would not be adverse to seeing what the likes of Maxwell, Stewart and D'Agostini can do early on in the season... problem is, who besides Lapierre or Chipchura would be out of the picture... Dandenault (possible)... I can't see all three on the way out of Montreal (two maybe), but that (two) still leaves the Habs with just one spot open for a rookie. I think its a bit too optimistic to think there will be much of an injection of new young prospects to start the season barring a trade that involves multiple players.... highly unlikely IMO. Wayne-1
re: Lapierre Nah .........Bulldogs That said, it is possible that a player like Lapierre could find himself in Hamilton to start the season.Lapierre will start the season in Montreal -- or with another NHL club... since he has to clear waivers to be sent down, he'll be gone if the Habs try to demote him... Chipchura is the only player 'on the bubble' who doesn't have to clear waivers to be sent down... so unless there is another move involving another player, Chichura's demotion is the default transaction... When did Lapierre sign a new contract? Lapierre is RFA next season, so I assume he's still on an entry level contract (making 687,500$)... has he played more games than is allowed yet - (160?). He's 23 now and on the final year of his contract as far as I know, which could mean he doesn't have to clear waivers.
Glory_Days
All I can say, is that Lapierre looked good out there tonight with Bégin and Kostopoulos. He made good defensive plays and got/created a couple scoring chances. If he keeps up the way he played vs the Sens, he'll be playing in a Habs uniform to start the season! He played 05/06, 06/07 and 07/08 in the Habs organization - between Hamilton (113) and Montreal (112) for a total of 225 games.
