GIJAYNE
Well having been eliminated in the finals for the Stonelly Cup, I hope I don't go the way of many teams in recent history and miss the playoffs completely
Cenner_Hice
Is it that time of year again? Most excellent. So who's running this bit, then? Qui, moi? Vous êtes trop gentil. Ce sera un honneur... On peut dire un plaisir. Must dust down the old spreadsheets and sharpen my mind to the matter at hand. I'll try to find the conventions ("Rules" is so harsh a word) to which we adhere here year on year, so I hear. Once found, I'll put them in the Display Department for all to see: I eventually had to go down to the basement to find them.” “That’s the Display Department.” “With a flashlight.” “The lights had probably gone.” “So had the stairs.” “But you found the list of conventions, didn’t you?” “Oh yes, they were ‘on display’ in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the leopard.’” With apologies to Douglas Adams
Johnny_rudeboy
As HTL so eloquently put it: Let the games begin.
Cenner_Hice
I found it... (But that leopard was a bit ticked off) Can I also set down the following points and ask a few favours to make my life a little easier? Call them PREDICTIONS RULES if you want to. 1: Please be clear about your predictions (cryptic clues don't help as I might not understand them); 2: Post predictions in the order the games appear on nhl.com's schedule; 3: Only make predictions for games in which Eastern teams are playing; 4: Have fun; 5: Predictions are for the result in regulation (i.e. win for either team or a tie); 6: Predictions must be made before the puck drops (I do check game stats for exact times if there's doubt); 7: Have fun; 8: Please don't predict games too many days in advance as I'm likely to miss your post; 9: Have fun; 10: Eerm... That's it. Oh... and if there's any doubt, my decisions are final... (ish)... (within reason)... (bribes are accepted)... (but not acted upon - I just like the idea of bribes) By the way, if I haven't said it already, have fun. I think the idea is to have fun... flames4eva
Happy Day Doogie PS - disregard that bit about cross-dressing... the source was unreliable. flames4eva
From the Poop-Deck... So, this is it... the start of another season of scouting the Eastern Conference - 2008-2009 rivals of Our beloved Bleu, Blanc, Rouge to keep everyone informed about just how the Habs stack up against the most direct competition... and we have a new format... THREE DIVISIONS/THREE SCOUT GROUPS for now and until otherwise adjusted... that means... NO INDIVIDUAL TEAMS... DIVISIONAL SCOUTS as follows: Atlantic Division: Devils; Islanders; Rangers; Flyers; Penguins Current scouts: Flying Lion Northeast Division: Boston Bruins; Buffalo Sabre; Montréal Canadien; Ottawa Senator; Toronto Maple Leaf Current scouts: HTL, NG29 Southeast Division: Thrashers; Hurricanes; Panthers; Lightning; Capitals Current scouts: 1970Habs EVERYTHING SCOUTING GETS POSTED IN THIS THREAD We are looking for three to five scouts per division.. so if you see a vacancy just drop a post in here stating which you would like to be. What happens here? As the Admiral, I will post a daily schedule and links to game previews. As a scout you will post all updates (injuries, trades, chit-chat and such - not previews or the links), articles and opinions (personal or otherwise - open for discussion) that you find or are of interest for your respective Division, while trying to avoid repetition. That simple. Welcome to my nightmare

flames4eva
Okay... our first predictions of the 2008-2009 Season... Thirty paces to the outhouse and these teams won't even get past twenty: Islanders, Maple Leafs and Thrashers Twenty to twenty-five paces and these teams are done: Sabres, Senators, Panthers and Hurricanes How they'll finish 1 to 8 brianw6: Canadiens, Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Bruins, Rangers, Devils, Lightning HHN: Canadiens, Flyers, Bruins, Capitals, Penguins, Rangers, Devils, Lightning The Admiral: Canadiens, Flyers, Capitals, Penguins, Bruins, Rangers, Devils, Lightning Smiegel: Canadiens, Bruins, Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Rangers, Lightning, Devils So there you have it... notice one of the above is represented by the favorite color of Oscar the Grouch (but at least he still had the good sense to see our Habs on top ) and as you can see this was a disjointed effort Everyone herein admits this was done with no good reason and reserves the right to update this prediction on a regular basis as the season progresses, whereby and wherever the Sabres, Senators, Panthers and Hurricanes should fail to cooperate while surprising even themselves. All agree, however, that the Islanders, Maple Leafs and Thrashers are done before the season has even begun. US
Johnny_rudeboy
only a few days to go until 1970 puts his title on the line lol Well I am going to have to give all of you a head start because me and the Mrs. have a two week vacation scheduled starting 5-6 October. I already notified the Admiral by PM that I will be lax in my scouting duties. He has not charged me with being AWOL or made me walk the plank yet so I guess I am still a scout. It should give everyone a good lead in the Jeopardy thread too. I will definitely being playing catch up when I return. But beware "I'll be back".
