My daughter just showed me her pics from last night's U2 show. I was expecting lotsa shots of the big screen, of the crowd and of miniature figurine Bono but no... miss was in the ring next to the stage  I'll link to a few when she puts them online.

Hey, I need yalls opinion on this.

A friend of mine and I got in a rather heated argument about rock n' roll today. He said that the most influential person in rock history was Elvis, but I strongly (hence the heated part of the argument) disagreed. I feel that the most influential rock band ever if far and away the Beatles.

What do you guys think?

chuck berry.

she said she'd enjoyed it way more than she expected. she likes U2 but is not a diehard fan. before she went she was not convinced she'd appreciate arriving at 9 am but it earned him the 471th spot in line and the 2000 first were admitted to the ring around the stage. she says the experience of being so close to super rock stars in the middle of such of HUGE crowd was surreal. some of her photos are just amazing, well she had the camera i bring to hockey games

I know that feeling CRB...When the STONES (my all-time favorite) came my way to an outdoor concert (on the hill,Moncton) few yrs back...I went very early, gates opened,I got to get down at front of the stage.....being so close & up front to my rock & roll idols was all to cool....made the experience all that exciting.B)

Valid point.

If only they could sing. :P

Thank you. :) I tried to say that before, but noooooo, he has to listen to you and not me

Another interesting thing I saw a friend of mine is that Sir Paul McCartney is probably the most recognized name/face worldwide. I tried to refute it, but I couldn't think of anyone else. I mean, if I say to someone "Sir Paul McCartney," the may not know where he is from, but they have almost definitely heard the name. Vice Versa applies for the face. Recognition at the least.

Exactly. Im sure if John was still around hed be much more recognizable, probably could have eventually won a nobel peace prize for something. A Beatles reunion also wasn't out of the question, supposedly Clapton almost had one going at his wedding but John never got an invitation in the mal

Wow... Great seats CRB, awesome pics!

Favorite band... That's a question and a 1/2. I guess for me, it would depend what genre you're talking about.

For classic punk... The Ramones.

Classic Rock... Take your pick, CCR, Led Zep, Niel Young, etc..

Bluegrass... Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, Ricky Scaggs.

Country... My man Johnny Cash

Metal... Classic Metallica (from Kill 'em all - Master of Puppets), Motley Crue, Old Guns n Roses (Appetite for Destruction), Bad Brains (punk/metal).

And the ultimate band of all times... The Beatles.

One of my favorite bands of all time was 10cc they only made 4 albums,I still have them all on vinyl,I saw them 4 times when they were touring, you could never put them in a genre really, they were quite different but they made some classics,my favorite was the Dean and I and I'm not in love.

Being a musician, I have a wide musical taste... Everything from classical, to old country, bluegrass, early metal (pre 90's), punk, funk, classic rock, etc...

There are some bands that stand out. Beatles, Ramones, NoFx, Suicidal Tendencies, Motley Crue, Pogues...

Solo artists, J Cash, Hank Williams, Neil Young, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits...

I also loved the Clash one of the greatest bands to ever come out of England also the Squeeze, and UB40 like 5440, Pearl Jam,Beach boys,Guns and Roses,Bruce Springfield and millions of others, many you will never have heard of before most of you were born,I love all kinds of music not too up on the very modern ones but I love Arcade fire.My daughter once told me when she was about thirty, that the thing she was most proud of me when she was a kid was that I knew more about music than any of her friends parents,I kind of liked that.

Music is food for Mike he spent years going to the Foufounes Electrique on St Catherines street saw some great bands there for next to nothing, through the eighties and nineties, wish I had been there.

GO HABS GO
