I agree, my friends sister came to games (Junior A, not NHL. & She doesn't even like hockey) and they lost with her there. We threatened to ship her to China for being bad luck! :P

I think it's better that Latendresse plays on Koivu's line because the third line doesn't have as much speed as the first two...Lang and Latendresse aren't the fastest guys on the team and that might reduce Sergei's productivity somewhat...It would be interesting to see what Higgins Lang and Sergei K. would be able to do as a line.
Yes, of the 12 starting forwards, I'd say they are the two slowest. So re-balancing speed, and improving the checking ability of the third line are probably the reasons for trying the switch. At this early stage, everything is "trying / experimenting".

GO HABS GO!!

It seems fairly obvious to me that most people have misunderstood the article that was posted about Gui.replacing Higgins. It clearly means that Gui.will replace Higgins on that line if Chris is injured and cannot play.I haven't heard anything about an injury that Higs has other than the groin thing he had before.Maybe he re-injured it when he played the other day?In any case,it seems like people are reading more into this than there probably is?
Thanks for the correction CD. Most of us didn't even read the article. I would imagine Carbo will give his initial line make-up more than just the one exhibition game (Minnesota) to try things out.

*Peers into Cristobal"

Oops. Can't do that anymore.

*Runs a Price check*

I see us netting 4 or 5 goals. Two from the top line, one from Lats and one from the third line. The other being SH or 4th line if it happens. Price will hold them to 2 or 3, but they will not be denied. Both teams will come out hard and strong.

This is actually going to be a wicked hard test out the gate, folks. The Sabres aren't pushovers. They're a dynamic young team built on speed with lots to prove after missing the playoffs last season. Yes, they lack proven defense following Campbell's departure, but Miller is a stud and Lindy Ruff is a seasoned, experienced coach. We had better be sharp in the transition game and through the neutral zone or guys like Roy, Vanek, and Pominville will torch us.

Believe it or not, this opening game is going to be a real test for MTL...The Habs need to put this team away in convincing fashion...Winning early and often is the key to success, if you can't put away these middle/lower of the pack teams, then it's going to be a long season.

with bouillon already out and it looks like laraque and higgins will miss as well its gonna be a huge test

I'd much prefer to see Lats on the third line....for now... nothing against him...I really like the guy and i think he has awesome potential and I truly believe that this could be his make or break year with us (wife gets pissed off when I call the Habs..."us".. as if I'm part of the team). A bit of enthusiasm, heart and hard work and he should be fine- gotta earn his spot on the second line. He's able to do it.

hahah tell the wife thats just the way it is

looks like breezer will play on the 3rd pairing, roy and vanek will be laughing

HabsTV has just posted a "first games of season" video on this site. Reminds me of one of the best things about the return of Habs' hockey: Sandrine Balthazard. :D

agreed ;):D

I am looking forward to attending this game with my 20 yr old son whose is a Sabres fan,, Hopefully we will come out with a win and the ride home will be a little smoother for me :D -On a side note, I believe the scoreboard in the pic was the one that came crashing down to the ice prior to a game-I believe it was in the afternoon before a Sabres/Bruins game-Here's hoping the Habs light up the scoreboard on FRI

I like the D but the offense blows.

Gorges-Brisebois: Gorges solid defensive defensemen while brisebye can move and shoot the puck well.

Markov-Komisarek: Nice

Hamrlik-O'Byrne: Nice

Bégin-Lapierre-Dandenault : Not a true checking line and not a goon line

S Kostitsyn-Lang-Kostopoulos: Not a true offensive line but a decent checking line

Latendresse-Koivu-Tanguay: Lats better get a point and a + on that line or go back to the third line.

In my opinion, the only problem is the third one, with Kostopopoulos on it.

The 4th one is an energy line and Dandenault fits on it in my opinion.

Latendresse can do as good as Higgins on the 2nd.

The third is kind of an hybrid thing.....

the last 4 stanley cup champs has been something like a combined 34-4-4 in the month of October (according to hardcore hockey talk on the score)....LET'S START STRONG!!!

GO HABS GO!

Good point, but strong starts makes me paranoid for some reason. Remember what happened to Ottawa last year? They just couldn't be beaten in the first month and maybe a half, then they were up pee creek for the rest of the season. But then again, it's Ottawa. They're soft.
