San Diego 1 Detroit 0.  Michael Fulmer comes up short in a pitchers' duel in which San Diego got only two hits.  One was a hanging slider over the plate that became an RBI double.  That drove in a batter who led off the second inning with a walk.  Detroit was shut down on three hits and failed to take advantage of five walks as double plays in the first two innings kept the game scoreless.  Defensive plays in the eighth and ninth innings preserved the Padres' lead.

San Diego 7 Detroit 3.  Bullpen meltdown in the eighth inning sends Detroit to its eighth straight loss.  Shane Green and Alex Wilson could locate pitches or the strike zone in a five run Padre eighth.  A fastball over the plate resulted in a go ahead two run shot.  Detroit also failed to take advantage of shoddy defense by the Padres as errant throws resulted in two Detroit runs in the fifth.

Detroit released righthander Francisco Rodriguez.

Detroit 7 San Diego 5.  Detroit's bullpen bails out a mistake prone Jordan Zimmerman allowing Detroit to come from behind.  Mikie Mahtook's two run single run in the ninth gave reliever Bruce Rondon the win.  Mahtook, though, was caught between first and second trying to advance on the throw to the plate.  Two of Zimmerman's mistakes left the ballpark and two others account for a triple and an RBI groundrule double.

Detroit 5 Kansas City 3.  Justin Verlander gains command of his pitches after allowing three runs on five hits before anyone was out.  Verlander retired 17 of the next 20 hitters and allowed only four more hits on seven innings of work.  Mistakes by Kansas City starter Matt Strahm found the seats accounting for four of Detroit's runs.  A fast ball Strahm  failed to elevated and a hanging changeup on the outside part of the plate.  Three relievers finished for Detroit allowing only two hits.

San Francisco 5 Detroit 4.  Lapses in concentration by Detroit starter Daniel Norris and pitches over the plate give the Giants the win.  Norris forgot about the runner at first in the third inning and allowed him to reach second.  That runner came into score and Norris was rattled on a comebacker to the mound missing an out the plate.  Once again, he failed to get past the fourth inning.
