Kansas City 7 Detroit 4.  Bullpen blows another lead as a hanging curveball from Drew VerHagen in the seventh resulted in a go ahead two run shot.  Right fielder Nick Castellanos misplayed a line drive into a two run double and was slow throwing back to the infield earlier that allowed a run to score.  A diving catch in right center field and a diving stop by the shortstop resulting in a force out at second aided the Royals.

Minnesota 5 Detroit 1.  Pitches over the plate allow Minnesota to score five runs.  The bullpen served two more gopher balls. Detroit hitters had difficulty with a combination of two and four seam fastballs from Bartolo Colon getting only five hits in the game.  A doubleplay preceded Detroit's only run in the third and stranded a runner at second.

Chicago 3 Washington 1.  Pitching and defensive plays, despite the fact the Cubs made as many errors as hits, four in all.  Two came on one play when the Cubs' leftfielder dropped a flyball and kicked the ball into the corner allowing Nationals' batter to reach third.  Winning came in the eighth on a catchable flyball that dropped for an RBI single.  Anthony Rizzo was trapped between first and second after rounding the first base bag too far, one of two baserunning gaffes.  Matt Scherzer took a no hitter into the seventh against the Cubs who lead the series 2-1.

Los Angeles Dodgers 3 Arizona 1.  Yu Darvish combines with the bullpen to shut down Arizona on three hits to eliminate the Diamondbacks in three straight.  The longball was also the difference for the Dodgers who a pair of them.
