CANADIENS27
San Francisco Madison Baumgarner outduels Doug Fister and combining with two relievers to shut out Detroit on two hits to take a 2-0 series lead. As previously noted, Detroit botched a scoring chance in the second inning when third base coach Gene Lamont decided to send Prince Fielder home on a double down the left field line by Delmon Young. A perfectly executed relay nailed Fielder at the plate and Detroit's rally was over shortly after it started.

CANADIENS27
One further note, San Francisco became the 7th team since 1900 to make the postseason while being dead last in home runs. So it goes to show you pitching and defense are far more important, as much as I like the long ball.
