Miami and Toronto have pulled a 12 player trade that includes righthander Josh Johnson, lefthander Mark Buerhle, and shortstop Jose Reyes going to Toronto and Henderson Alvarez going to Miami. Johnson and Buerhle would fill glaring holes in Toronto's starting rotation while Alvarez has regressed during his time in Toronto.

San Francisco catcher Buster Posey is the National League MVP. Posey came back from a 2011 season ending broken lower left leg and three torn ankle ligaments to become the first catcher in 70 years to win the National League batting title with a .336 average to lead the majors and the first in forty years to win the award getting 27 of 32 first place votes and 422 to outdistance Ryan Braun of Milwaukee. Posey joins Gabby Hartnett (1935), Ernie Lombardi (1938), who was also the last National catcher to win the batting (1942), Roy Campenella (1951, 1953, 1955), and Johnny Bench (1970, 1972).

Commissioner Bud Selig is reviewing the 12 player trade between Miami and Toronto partly because of concern Marlins owner Jeff Loria may be gutting the team to get rid of contracts.

It's mostly to do with taxes, there's nothing saying that the trade will not be finalized.
