Silentcal
I live in Western Massachusetts and ordered Center Ice through DirecTV. I'm thrilled to finally get to watch the Habs games but I am wondering why I only seem to get the Away feeds and not the Canadiens feed. I had to listen to Buffalo announcers and Philly announcers for their respective games. The Toronto game was a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast which was pro-maple leaf. The Bruins game my local cable company can pick up NESN so I watched it there. Now I'm really happy to just be able to get to see them but can anyone help me in explaining why I don't get the Habs feeds and their announcers. Thank you

Thank you The only true "Habs Broadcasts" are in French on RDS, I believe Center Ice gets them (but I'm not sure). HNIC and TSN combine to have about half of the Habs games in English, and while they are not "Habs broadcasts" per se, they generally favour the Canadian team. The only English Habs specific broadcast is radio (CJAD). And HNIC used to be very pro Maple Leafs, however, the new head of CBC Sports has done a good job of slowly demoting the Leafs fans from its staff and starting to gear HNIC towards the good Canadian teams. I don't know what you're referring to about the last Hockey game; Hughson and Simpson are as impartial as they come (and for the record, Hughson is most likely a Canucks fan, not a Leafs fan - although you can't really tell any bias). The thing is that Canada is must less regional than the USA when it comes to hockey. Hockey is popular enough here that TSN and CBC (the two main broadcasters) can show hockey games with one Canadian team nationally and get good ratings. The only broadcasts that I know of that are geared to a specific team are Habs on RDS in French, certain Leafs games on TSN (only shown in Leafs region) and the Canucks on Sportsnet. GuyDryden
Whenever we in the states get a Directv game involving a US team, Directv will show us the US feed. The same goes for Hockey Night in Canada. The NHL Network shows that, and we get US Directv commercials etc. The only time I get the Canadian feeds is when two Canadian teams play each other on Center Ice during the week. If I have to listen to Jack Edwards talk about how great the Bruins are 8 times this year I am going to hang myself!!! I live in central New York. I grew up on the Quebec New York border listening to CBC Hockey Night in Canada back when they were a little more pro Montreal. It is torcher not getting home games broadcast with home announcers but the way I see it I am just happy to get to watch the Habs!!
CareyPrice31
If you're not happy with the home announcers, you can mute your tv and turn on CJAD. (http://www.CJAD.com/player/player) They are a Quebec radio station. I have the same problem here though, only lame Canuck biased announcers. I hate our radio stations. I've used CJAD and it is good however there is a time delay of a few seconds... I noticed it watching RDS feed on Sunday while listening to CJAD... Silentcal
Thank you for all your replies. I guess I should just be happy and watch whatever comes. I'll try a radio feed for Saturday's game. I just hope there is no lag. Thanks again

Trust me: you're not a true Habs fan in English Canada if you've never tried to sync up an English radio broadcast with a French TV station. It doesn't work well at all, unless you use a DVR so that the TV broadcast lags as well.
Hoyle00cdn
To be honest, I prefer the french on RDS. There's a running joke in my house: "Everything's better on RDS". Last year we were watching Habs VS Rangers on MSG, you know the famous 6-5 comeback victory. It was 5-0 and my brother still wanted to watch the game, so I told him "If we're going to continue watching this disaster unfold at least put it on RDS, so I don't have to listen to the MSG commentators talk about how Great the Rangers are." He put it on RDS and the comeback began. Ever since then I watch every game I can on RDS. It's helped my french considerably too. Generally speaking, I think it's hard to be a true Hab fan without embracing some sort of french character, even if you aren't french.
Hawk-LaFleur
I think either the NHL Network or Directv picks and chooses each week, because Hockey Night In Canada this past Saturday night on NHL Network was showing the Canadian feeds, along with Canadian commercials. Last week it was US commercials.
