Scott92
Canucks place center Kyle Wellwood on waivers Kyle Wellwood is on waivers, having failed to impress the Vancouver Canucks. Once a prospect in the Toronto Maple Leafs, Wellwood, 25, was waived by that organization over the summer. He got a one-year, $997,500 deal with the Canucks this offseason in hopes he could help bolster their forward corps. Wellwood is a center. However, he found himself out of favor after reporting to training camp out of shape. "His commitment to conditioning and being a professional athlete probably wasn't where it needed to be for him to have success," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault told Canwest News Service in training camp in September. Wellwood played one game with the Canucks and didn't get a point. Part of Wellwood's problem is a two-year bout with a hernia and a broken foot from playing summer soccer. If he clears waivers, Wellwood would be assigned to the Canucks' AHL Manitoba affiliate. Click link to view article.

Scott92
He could possibly been waived for the sole purpose of the Canucks' hopes to acquire Mats Sundin. Maybe they need that extra million to bribe him even more to go out west to Vancouver, but that is just my guess.
Innis_Mor
A Mike Gillis signing. The guy's really a bit of a joke. He's probably still waiting for Mats to sign for the $10MM per. "Plus, we'll hire that Swedish chef from The Muppets to cook all the meals, Mats, when you host Team Sweden at your place in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics. (...horst-de-borsht-de-florsht...)" (I always wondered how the hole got put in donuts.)
zenderjetta
This is becoming a bit like groundhog day - has Wellwood ever showed up in shape?
CareyPrice31
hahahaha... will this guy ever learn? Probably not. First mistake: Signed with the Canucks. Second mistake: Decided to come to training camp overweight.
RicochetII
That's unfortunate. He was one of the few Leafs I might have been able to like if he were wearing a different jersey. How you can risk your body and fitness over the summer at this level is beyond me and perhaps shows that he isn't mentally prepared for the NHL. I thought he had a good work ethic and some potential in the few games I've seen him play and I was wondering what would cause the Leafs to unload him. I guess now I know. Otherwise, I'd have been tempted to pick him up off waivers.

Rayzor123
This guy just never learns. You can't show up to training camp out of shape and expect to get far. He could've been the second star center on the Canucks, but now, because of his stupid mistake, that's not happening.

Innis_Mor
Recalled today by the Canucks. - fan590 And then scrores a goal and assist on the only two goals Vancouver could muster against Columbus....... Canucks?: Lose the game 4-2; I think that is 4 straight losses, or so. The Sedin twins?: nodda, nothing. Captain Luongo?: still on with the "not time to worry about this team yet" (I guess he'll let their fans all know when that time comes. ). I still expect GM Mike Gillis will be out of his job by the end of the season.
