NJcollegestudent
Hello Canadiens fans, I am a college student from New Jersey, and a few friends and I ( 4 or 5 total) are looking to possibly come up to Montreal for winter break. We are all huge hockey fans and want to go to a game. We are interested in the following games Jan 4 vs Panthers Jan 8 vs Maple Leafs Jan 10 vs Capitals What are the realistic chances of getting tickets to a game for a reasonable price, especially the Leafs game? we are looking to spend as little as possible, (around 50 american dollars) but if no other options we will pay higher if not unreasobable. Also, do you have any recommendations on cheap options for hotels in or near Montreal, (we wont spend much time there so it doesn't have to be nice or expensive). Also have any other recommendations for must sees/ dos for a group of college kids? Thanks GO HABS! (and Devils!)

You're being unrealistic with $50 tickets, this isn't NJ unfortunately, especially against the Leafs. If you are willing to get really crappy seats, see a less desirable matchup, and sit apart from each other, you can probably find something in the $50-$75 range. Sitting together (4 or 5 people), better seats, or a better game will all increase the cost. Being realistic, I'd look at $100+ I know for a Habs-Leafs game in Toronto, with mid range seats (lower bowl, but in the corner, not center ice), for 2 people it cost me about $400 on Ebay. Montreal isn't quite as bad as Toronto, but it's not much better. To find tickets, the season is sold out so you need to go through a ticket agency. Many have sites, and Ebay is a really good place as well.
JHaul
I just bought a set of 4 in the 300's for the Feb 7 game vs the Leafs for about $593 CDN or $475 US (CDN dollar was at the recent low... dumb time to buy, I know). I also bought a pair in the 300's for the same game for $293 CDN or $235 US. Both transactions were on ebay, so I'd check there. Although I doubt you'll get "premium" games like the Leafs for as cheap as you're hoping... the Panthers should be cheaper though. My advice would be not to jump on the first tics you see. REALLY look around for the better deals on the site. I saw sets of 400's going for a hundred bucks more than my sets of 300's.

NJcollegestudent
Thanks for the replies, i just spoke with my friends and the Leafs game doesn't fit into our schedule, the Panthers on Jan 4 is the only one we would be able to attend. i figured cheap leafs tickets would be impossible but i figured i'd ask anyway. Any ideas where the cheapest seats are, we really don't care where we sit as long as we are inside, Any seat at a game in Canada has to be a good one. like someone said, it isn't New Jersey where i can walk up to the arena and get a 10 dollar ticket. Also, we are looking for a really good hockey bar to pregame at, any recommendations?

The other two games have a high demand, especially the Leafs game.

Are you able to go to the GardenState plaza if so I would check out select a ticket right near the food court. they sell tickets to every arena and stadium for any event. But there a scalping agency. You don't have to worry about if some one will rip you off by not send you the tickets. your right in front of people.
