That Fritz is a monster hey?Laraque just played it smart he knew Fritz had a long reach so he stayed back a bit so Fritz really didn't land the shots where they could do much damage.Other then the blood around Fritz eye the fight was pretty even.

I'd be more than happy to call it a draw. :D

There was only a brief replay and the win was so exciting I largely put it out of my mind. If you watch Laraque's fights, he is normally pretty good at gaining position and getting the first and best shots, but he just wasn't able to do it against this beast.

what can we say. we have the aura...sure you played better, but we are still gonna win. wont happen every game though.

ha just imagine if we threw up this effort against the wings

Game Summary:

All in all, I'd have to say that tonight, The Habs had a stronger 3rd period than they did in the 1st or the 2nd period.

ya think???

One of two scenarios would take place...

Detroit wins 20-1 by the end of the third

or

Montreal wins with an astonishing record breaking twenty goals in twenty minutes; proving that despite the odds they can always comeback. :P

I was watching the second, and was fuming to the point where I hung up my jersey for the night. I switched to the Pens vs Blues game, and almost said screw the night. Glad I switched back.

Great Third, no comment on the 1st and 2nd.

We're that freakin Good.....when we try. :o

ya and were also that freakin bad

This win is probably the most frustrating thing for us fans. When this team decides to work hard and play a disciplined, focused game, they're a juggernaut. But the trick is: how do we get this team playing like this for 60 minutes?

60 minutes are gonna be hard to come by because the defense is just generally weak, it is a major chore to clear the zone or to make consecutive passes. late in the 3rd tonight they did all they could to get the isles to tie it

I agree, I was watching the last minute, thinking that the Islanders were going to score, Price saved us again IMO, even if he almost killed us earlier, he saved us in the end.

we have alot to complain about, this win should be overshadowed

X2.

Thank Pleks tonight for really stepping up his game, providing a boost to our boys and making this win a real possibility. His hard work and determination really got us our 2 points, our second line was not playing so well this season and they really made up for it tonight, We stole this win and Pleks deserves a pat on the back!

Great game boys!!!

Go habs go!

ps. Cant forget about Higgy tonight either.

Actually, our forward with the most hustle this year was a healthy scratch tonight. Kostopoulos has outworked everyone on this team thus far and Carbo thanks him by benching him. I'm truly disgusted at his decision tonight.

totally agree, thats how you get rewarded around here <_<

I thought Lats had a great game. Sure, he finished -2 on the stat sheet, but he was very strong in his board work in the offensive zone, he was hitting with a purpose, and generally was one of the few players through 40 minutes who had some jump in his step. It would be a shame to push him off that line because he didn't get the bounces for one night.

Preach it, brother! That's my same exact thought every time we get scored on from a partial deflection. Either man up and block the shot for real or get the hell out of the way and give the goalie an open look at the shooter. This is how we got eliminated from the playoffs in 05-06, you'd think we'd have learned the lesson by now. ;)

im glad someone remembers the 06 playoffs, because our lazy defenseman throw so many sticks in front of pucks that the same fate is coming again

Exactly, which only means that eventually it will catch up to us and we won't be winning many games with such poor effort.

OK, I'll admit it before I put in my two cents. I've only been a hockey fan for like a year and a half now. We don't have hockey per se in the country I came from. But seeing how I live in Montreal now, it seemed like a soccer like thing to cheer for the local team, win or loose, you stick with them.

That being out of the way, as people such as GHC mentioned, the his kind of play will catch up on us eventually and we'll end up loosing more than winning. Most observers of the sport would agree that we have been lucky to get out wins in the past erm.. 3 games. I'm hesitant about three games, because in full honesty, tonights third period showed us what the team has for them, speed, power, skates and skills. So lets be fair and call it the two games leading up to this one.

But point the same, there is something amiss for this team, and I can't quite get my finger on what it is. Last year you could eality put your finger on the problem and get that Ah HA! Only to see that Carb figured it out as well.

All in all though, the Habs do have a history of starting slow and building up momentum as they go along into the season (please correct me if I'm wrong in my observations). My fear is that they keep the abd playing momentum's but somehow keep faith that they'll get over it eventually.

Two cents....... for what it's worth in our economy..

which is the same ol story year after year, usually ends with the off season starting in mid-late april

Wow! you guys get a come-from -behind win like this and you're all pessimistic...the fact is this team is on the verge of greatness and tonight that showed because they didn't play well but...won anyway....so if they're playing poorly and have a 8-1-0-1 record hows that a bad thing??
