I wonder how many people here, when the score was 4-1 said "Well game over - night." That used to be a popular thing to say whenever we were in a big hole. I'm too lazy to look back, but I can just imagine.

I had a good feeling we'd make something positive happen in the third. Though, I didn't think we'd be able to make a come back and win, I thought we'd draw pretty close.

It wasn't until the second intermission that the Habs got the memo that the Islanders are a crappy team this year lol.

Great way to pick up two points though, it was an exciting third!

Here is my analysis of last mights game:

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTT????????!!!!!!

PS: I only hope that our beloved HABS understand that they have to take - every single team seriously - I MEAN every team - if they want to hoist anything over their heads this year!

NOTE to HABS: (Still early in the season SUGGESTION) - 1) PRESS in the clutch 2) MOVE shifter to 2nd gear!!

NB: I hope we all realize that if we were playing any other team - the outcome would of been different. Let's call it LIKE IT IS.

Listen to what Stan Fischler has to say about Carey: "Carey Price is pretty cocky, stiff, and inept." That comment really pissed me off, this guy was just angry that his precious Isles lost (What else is new?)

Everyone hates a winner.

Time to start the Stan Fischler Fan Club Canadiens Chapter.

Stay tuned

I lost interest in the game after the first period and definitely gave up after the second. I know we're only 10 games into a long season but I believe that every game counts and we have to show up for every game, no matter who the opposition is. Early in the game, I could see that Price and most of the team were not really in the game and seemed uninterested. Glad they came back and won but showing up like they did the first two periods will end up with more losses than wins.

Stan Fischler is a "has been" that has always hated Montreal and never ever gave them any credit for anything they've accomplished. This dates back to the late 70's. A classic LOSER that does not deserve any attention.

yea man, Price probably has one of the best attitudes in the NHL. he's fun to interview and he's goofy with his team.

jealousy from others is hilarious.

So, here's what I'm HOPING les boys got out of this game:

1. When we play full throttle, we're an EFFING JUGGERNAUT

2. Just because a team is at the bottom of the standings doesn't mean you can go in an just expect the win to fall into your laps

3. When playing a team better than you, 60 minutes of FULL THROTTLE is required.

What they probably learned

1. We can just turn on the ignition at anytime and pull out a win.

I couldn't watch the game, unfortunately. I had to suffer through a Leafs game and content myself with updates on CBC. Certainly happy with the win but not at all impressed by what it took to get it.

I got into a little argument with a friend of mine, fellow Habs fan, as we were quickly letting this one get away from us. He was writing it up as just a loss, that we're good for the playoffs as long as we play .600 hockey, which we are doing and then some.

My take, though, is that NO LOSS should come from a team so far below us in the standings. The Islanders are bottom-feeding and we just about gave them points. Unacceptable in my eyes. I've always been frustrated by the Canadiens' ability to give away games to teams we should be collecting points from without breaking a sweat. This penchant for 20-minute hockey will kick us in the butt if something isn't done soon.

Otherwise, a 'W' is a 'W' and 2 points is 2 points. We'll take 'em, for sure.

GO HABS GO!

This was the first time I was on(off and on) this forum during a game, and man I was disgusted. Two bad periods and our coaching staff should be fired and players traded and line up dismantled, and then cue the come back, I wonder how many people came back with their tails between they're legs after the game.

Believe me when I say those of us who stayed positive appreciate this win a whole lot more.

I was wondering after the fourth Islander goal, why Coach Carbo did not call a timeout and tell his players a few things.

But you know, I gotta hand it to him now.

My read, is that he was telling them (by not saying anything) "you guys got yourself into this pickle; you're pro's; you plan on being a Championship team -- you get yourselves out of the pickle you've put yourselves in -- I am not here to bail you out, rant and rave and embarrass you into putting in some focus and effort -- you guys do it yourselves; you guys decide if you want to be a championship calibre team."

Maybe I was reading too much into it; but if that's the case, I liked it -- especially since it seemed to work. ;)The Habs are learning to stick together and win as a team, without calling out guys, etc.

Funnily enough, some of the ones everyone's been questioning of late (Kovalev, Pleks, AK46, Higgins) lead the charge in turning things around in the 3rd period. That's pretty much worth it right there.

No offense, but if you appreciate this win you're not seeing the overall picture. However positive we wish to remain, this was not a good win at all. Maybe you haven't noticed but there is no work ethic on this team so far this year. We can only sit here and imagine what it would be like if they played for 60 minutes the way they played in that third period. We would be untouchable, we would truly be an elite team.

I won't appreciate a comeback against a struggling team that we should have destroyed from the opening faceoff. We have to send a message to other teams that we're for real and not only a one period team.

Agreed. Like I said during the game, I have absolutely no problem losing to the Islanders. This is the NHL, and any team can beat any team on a given night. However, I would have had a tremendous problem with losing the way we were playing through 40 minutes: no heart, execution, intelligence, or effort, just lazy, disorganized play. That is not how a Cup-contending team should play.

Wow! you guys get a come-from -behind win like this and you're all pessimistic...the fact is this team is on the verge of greatness and tonight that showed because they didn't play well but...won anyway....so if they're playing poorly and have a 8-1-0-1 record hows that a bad thing??

on the verge of greatness? why because we narrowly bet a useless team?

I find what goes on during GDT fun to read. I try to keep my commets until after the game, that way you don't let your emotions make you look like a fool (read pages 20-35 :P ).

I think many here (dare I say most) had mixed feelings about last night. Yes, it's great that we're able to turn it on and come from behind like that, no question. It's a sign that there's talent and an extra gear available when needed. On the other hand, this team has a habit of getting out-penaltied, outshot, bad giveaways, and seemingly outhustled. At some point, that's gonna bite us, and if we have a hope of being champs, it'll have to change. Otherwise, we'll be just another good talented team that gets ousted in the 2nd rnd of the playoffs.

Hmm 4 goals in the 3rd period, big come from behind win, I appreciate it alot actually. We are 8-1-1 and according to some of you we havent even started to work during games, although we were 10 -10 in pk against the canes, doubled the big bad ducks in shots in our only lose, Price is top 5 in all goalies stats, our defense is starting to gel as well as our top 3 lines, and all this without 2 of top wingers out for half these games.

I am very well aware of the work ethic of this team, I agree we are not playing to the best of our abilities, but we are 8-1-1 and havent even hit mid season form yet, I like our chances.

So like I said I appreciate this win, even more so keeping positive throughout the whole thing, unlike 90% of the people here.

LAstnight was the first time we looked bad, things werent clicking, the other games we played good, just got outshot,

but those of us who actually play hockey know thats the way it goes, sometimes things just arent clicking, the bounces just arent goin your way.

Go Habs GO

Agreed. I started getting disturbed at all the penalties during the Wild game. The Isles game was somewhat of a continuation of that, and it needs to reverse fast.

Sure we shouldnt have fallen behind against the Isles like we did, but éh, we came back, showed we have bounce and the will to win. Full 60 min play, yeah, that would be nice, but for now we keep on winning, and like I said a few times before, its still early in the season. When our guys step it up at the time when its needed the most, I'll be a very happy fan. Overall (looking at it as a hockey player) I see a bright future ;)

GO HABS GO!!!

I saw worse that night: Flames vs Kings.

Same sort of deal with Habs vs Islanders. The Kings outeverythinged the Flames, but thankfully for Calgary, Kipper was standing on his head for them when he really should not have been against a young Kings team... If Kipper was anything but absolutely smack down fantastic that night, the Flames would have been true to their nickname: the LAMES.

Only difference is the Flames could barely contain the Kings like the Habs completely controlled the 3rd period.

Thanks for your post. You keep thinking that we're doing okay. Keep thinking that our defense is gelling and keep thinking that last night was our only game where we looked bad.

One last thing, if you post to insult us, then please don't. I've been playing hockey my whole life, I'm in my forties and I'm still playing in a men's A league with 20 year olds that have played division 1 and I can still hang with them. I've also been coaching for the last 15 years at high levels. So since you play hockey and you know the way it goes, I won't bother to respond to any more of your posts.
