swimmerpuck
Whatever decision Florida makes with Jay Bouwmeester isn't going to be made until the trade deadline according to Jacques Martin. I get the impression they still have hopes of resigning him actually. Jay Bouwmeester IMHO has a great supporting cast of defensive teammates. Without looking, the Florida Panthers have the highest scoring defensive corps in the league or close to it. His offensive teammates, especially Cory Stillman, know where to find him. Frankly.....the guy I like more is Keith Ballard and not because he played goalie last night. He's just very well rounded with possibly more grit. The guy is fearless. What I'd like even more than Bouwmeester or Ballard would be to have Florida's Peter DeBoer. I think that guy has done a heckuva job with an injured list that included at one time: Nathan Horton, Cory Stillman, Richard Zednick, Bryan McCabe and David Booth. Kinda funny because when those guys were out is when they started to turn it around. The standard was set high by DeBoer for those guys to come back. Maybe that's what Carbo needs to do too. In other words get Max back in the lineup. Okay......enough about the Panthers.......sorry for the rant. My bottom line is I don't think Bouwmeester will solve the Canadiens problems. leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Bouwmeester showed last night why he's a hot topic. Did anyone else notice how effective he was taking away time and space from Kovalev without even taking one minor penalty? I think Boone at Habs I/O was commenting on the same thing. Bouwmeester would be sweet here, in Montreal. Heck, if he were signed long-term, I would even trade Komisarek for him.
gracie12
Heck, if he were signed long-term, I would even trade Komisarek for him. Depending upon what he wanted long term, you might have to - or at least Hamrlik - as I dont think we could afford Markov-Komi-Hammer-jaybo as our top 4 - and still ice a competitive lineup of forwards. habs1119
After watching Jaybo dominate the Habs in last night's game...I'm going to go with a long-time Habs fan tradition and put together a knee jerk trade offer to get Jaybo The thing that makes this so interesting is, FLA is still very much in the playoff hunt...But not enough in it that they shouldn't still have an eye on the future...With that in mind, here's what I offer FLA: To FLA: Thomas Plekanec, David Fisher, 1st round DP 0-9 To MTL: Jaybo This is a very doable trade. It actually makes sense. It gives FLA the C they need (as long as he digns a long contract) a blue chip d-man and another 1st round pick really sets them up well and gives Hamilton a good hockey team in the near future But I do worry about losing Pleks, who do we have to replace him? Chipchura? Do we have another trade in the works to bring in a centreman?

We've got enough depth at centre in the short term to compensate for the loss of Pleks (Lang, Koivu, Lapierre, Chipchura) You can go out and grab centre depth in the off-season via trade or free agency...Or give Maxwell a shot

If it came down to Jaybo or Komi, while I like the guy Komi would lose. He just is not in the same league as Bouwmeester nor is he the defenseman we need to maintain an offensive powerplay. If we somehow managed to sign all four with Koivu and Kovalev taking a home cut I would be in awe of Gainey and swear never to doubt the man again. Nonetheless that just does not seem like a possibility, I would however consider moving Hamrlik to keep Komisarek. Overall it is a hard decision but Jaybo is better then everyone we have save Markov (defense wise)

Rocket-1
I actually met Jay Bo during all star weekend at the Queen Elizabeth, and let me tell you that..... if you think that he looks bad during interviews and stuff, it's really worst in person, he was talking to someone i didn't recognize in the lobby while i was going up to see some friends, and boy oh boy, he looks like a slow adult

LudaKrishna1
There are 2 many teams in the hunt for Jaybo As much as I'd like him in Montreal I doubt Gainey will be able to acquire him with what other teams might be offering for him I think it's going to be the same thing as Hossa last season
tomto
One sentence is all I can think of: I WISH BOB WILL GET THIS ONE TO MONTREAL.
Larry-Robinson
Bob is probably sending out inquiries about JBo and all decent d-men and is just deciding on what bang he can get for his buck. JBo would be a decent pick up but I think he would be one of the least we would try and get since it would be one of the most we have to give up. mandelh
Guys, I live in South Florida, the Habs are my life, but I still follow the home town team. I would bet my bottom dollar that Jacques Martin has Jay in his back pocket. He has sealed the deal long term with all of his high round draft picks, but Jay Bo held out because 1) he questioned the team's direction and 2) he couldn't stand Jacques behind the bench. The Panthers are currently flying up the Eastern Conf standings (with a win tonight against Ovie and his gang, they're five points out of first in the division). You're right, the guy (Jay) is a big dummy, but he is going be the face of the franchise on a great young contending team........he ain't goin' anywhere.
