koreysecord1992
Interesting. He's putting up good numbers seeing regular time in Hamilton, maybe he'll see a handful of games in the bigs sometime in the next two years
bailey1
not bad but wont make it to the nhl. If Marty St. Louis can make it. So can he. If memory serves Marty wasn't a high end prospect either until he reached the Big League. David has made himself known through hard work, and not being drafted by any team. Also to boot...even though David is small in stature, this guy is built like a TRAIN at 5'6''. Desharnais will definatly make up for the loss of Grabovski at the centre position. 911fred
106 points is pretty impressive, even if it is in the ECHL. Plenty of players who started in the ECHL have made it to the nhl, perfect example is Alexander Burrows. And size IS NOT i repeat, IS NOT an issue in the new NHL. He had a great training camp, i do beleive that during the training camp he got more points then games played. If he has another great camp, he may be able to see some ice time next year, beacause wether we like it or not, ALOT of players will be leaving this summer beacause of all the contracts that are gonna run out. Can't wait to see how this guy progresses.
sach
he represents what the new nhl is all about, speed, skill and craftiness he really impressed me in camp and he continues to play well in hamilton
js2
Some of you guys would be surprised to see how hard he works along the boards. The guy never gives up and he's pretty strong too.
ruuvimeisseli
K guys im 14. I am already 5'11, 130, so to me he is small. Unless he is as good as martin St.louis he has no nhl potential.
Bumblebee_mtl
Awesome news. This guy is a great player. I call him Roadrunner 2 Heeheehee... Glad the Canadiens gave him this. I was very impressed when I saw him play, but I was actually looking out for him because of all the things I heard about him from his other leagues. However people next to me were like "who is that little guy? he's quick! he's strong! wow! hey it's him again!" When Desharnais gets the puck, it ain't easy to get it away from him. Plus he's damn good at faceoffs and excellent at setting up his linemates. Who cares about height when you're a speedy little ROCK capable of skating through the legs of sluggish giants. If room ever appears, hopefully we'll see him with the Habs one day.
Ives
He doesn't have to be an amazing player to make the NHL. Look at Mikhail Grabovski, he is not THAT great, hes good, but is easily bumped off the puck. Not true in Desharnais' case. *if a mod can merge both posts please, I can't edit it. tmash
Good signing I guess. I doubt he ever makes the NHL, but there is little risk here.
BadBrains
Those who watched the Roberval preseason game will remember that he was our best player. Wasn't afraid to stand in front of the net and dig for pucks. He made smart, solid plays and good passes. His size can be used to his advantage. Imagine him in front of the net next to Chara, for example. How do you check a guy that small without cross checking him in the back of the head? Could be great at drawing penalties. Johnny_rudeboy
Desharnais' play forces Lever's hand Don Lever said he was impressed by the performance of youngsters Ben Maxwell, David Desharnais, Yannick Weber and Ryan White since the beginning of the season. "They learn quickly", he said. "Desharnais has a great vision of the game and I try to find ways to use it more, especially in special teams. " The best scorer of the ECHL last season with 106 points in the uniform of the Cyclones Cincinnati is centering the fourth trio with hard-hitting Ryan Flinn and Ryan White. Being on the fourth trio hasn't prevented him from being the third best scorer of the Bulldogs with three goals and six assists in 11 games. Third, fourth line duties and almost a point a game. Not bad for "Tiny Mite." Here is the full story: http://www.canoe.com/sports/nouvelles/hock...105-101602.html Interesting to see how far he will go. Flunky
Buffalo has a top prospect named Nathan Gerbe, who is also listed at 5'5"-5'6" and about the same weight. Obviously their size will be a detriment, but I don't think you can categorically rule them out. Dezzy tore up the Q despite his size. He tore up the ECHL despite his size. He's more than holding his own in the AHL so far this year. I'm pullin' for the little guy.
BadBrains
Tell that to Theoren Fleury or Yvon Cournoyer or Brian Gionta for that matter I guess I should have added sarcasm indicators. Never say never." edit: Or where you just adding those players to my St. Louis reference? Either way, I agree with you concerning those guys. Mats Naslund could be another example. Last Hab to have a 100 point season. 5'7", 160lbs.
