pagos86
The Denver Post is reporting a rumor that the Montreal Canadiens may trade goalie Jaroslav Halak to the Colorado Avalance for defenseman Brett Clark. Source
flames4eva
SourceNot that crazy really. I could see this as a potential move towards a three team trade. Just think of the other team's looking for a d-man of Clark's caliber and what they may have to offer to the Habs
jl-1
Three things: Why exactly would we want Clark? How would that work with our salary cap again? At this point in his career, Halak wouldn't fetch an established defenseman. Only on this forum would people think that we could get something good for him. A pick and/or a prospect is all you can hope for him unless he catches fire at some point.

But often rumours aren't complete. It could be Halak+ for Clark+ for all we know. In any case, I'd rather get Jordan Leopold, by giving some more. hockey_gal89
I like Clark...and Clark for Halak straight up is a solid trade. I would do this trade.
hockey_gal89
http://forecaster.canada.com/faceoff/hocke...-career.cgi?152 I think the reason alot of people believe him to be a 5th defenceman is because his game has flown under the radar in Denver...I wouldn't make the trade now because he's injured...But for a healthy Clark...Yes, that's a good acquisition. hockey_gal89
http://spectorshockey.net/index.php?option...s&Itemid=55 LA PRESSE: Mathias Brunet recently reported on the trade value of Montreal Canadiens back up goalie Jaroslav Halak, but while it's believed Halak could fetch a decent return for the Canadiens Brunet cites a scout who says he doubts the Habs would move the goalie at this time, considering him insurance in case Carey Price gets injured. SPECTOR'S NOTE: Gainey could consider shopping Halak later this season if there's a specific need to be addressed and there's a good offer out there but he's not as Brunet suggests in any hurry to do so. I figured this was relevant enough to the subject matter of this thread to post here...It's probably the best reason why you won't see Halak move any time soon. habsin09
Why pick up Clark at 3.5 when we let Streit walk for nothing at the same numbers. Especially with Streit being useful. Makes no sense.
HabsAlways
Ewww Brett Clark We need a good 4th defensemen not some washed up 35 year old who was never that good anyways. We had him once, we don't want him again

Makes no sense. My thoughts precisely, Clark is not the answer for our defensive wane. Admittedly I have seen little of him as Colorado games are hard to come by however if he were something to contemplate, I would imagine his name would more widely publicized. You're most likely right...In Gainey's 3 season trade history Gainey has taken his good ole time acquiring pieces for his team.
