The Canadiens begin a 3 game road trip with two games in as many nights, packing up from a disheartening loss at home and heading to St. Louis for an early start. Komisarek will not be making the trip. While Montreal managed well defensively in his absence on Saturday night, they will need to find ways to produce more goals and show up with enough energy to tackle the Blues on home ice. The Canadiens have only one goal in each of their last two losses.

*If nobody has updated the thread with the lines and scratches by tomorrow's game, I will update when they become available.

I'd say this game is a must win simply because it's a "must play." Montreal absolutely needs to play with passion and a will to win, especially after the last few disappointing games. Montreal clearly has a better team the St. Louis, but also better than Boston, Toronto, and Philadelphia and look at those games. If the same uninspired, lackluster team steps onto the ice tonight we're in for a long night. And the Trade so-and-so! posts will start accumulating.

No this game should be a "trial game" so to speak. By this I mean Carbo should be throwing out absolutely random line combination, from some we have suggested to ones we have yet to even consider; run two lines instead of four for a while and essentially try new ideas to see what works.

I'll be at the game..making the 4 hour drive from KC to STL - got 4th row behind Habs attack net twice...was really hoping we'd be on a tear leading up to this one but this could be a good opportunity for the team to play 60 minutes with intensity and passion.

Here's hoping you're right.

Enjoy the game!

Since the Philly game thread is closed - I'll echo some thoughts here - all the same actually!

Virtually the same record after 15 games TY as compared to LY (1 more loss TY - 9-4-2 vs 9-3-3), and we all know where we ended up LY! The only REAL thing that has changed TY is our EXPECTATIONS - and why not! It's been a few games now that people have been saying - '...it's still early...' and others saying '...something has to be done...' ! Let's flip a coin because the beauty of this forum is the difference of opinions we ALL share.

Here is the good news - IMO. Last year, the next stretch of 15 games had our HABS at 5-8-2. Certainly room for improvement there. So slumps - whenever they happen - all get our temperature rising. Our Habs have to find a way to turn it around to keep pace and I'll let the powers to be - figure that one out. Gotta get back to some GOOD hockey to get us back on track and it WILL start tonight!

Go ALS GO !!!!

It will be interesting to watch if nothing else. Interesting to see whether Carbo remains stubborn or tries a new approach like changing match-ups and not rolling 4 lines. I'm aware that this is our third game in 4 nights but certain situations do not require him to roll the 4 lines. Last night for example when the Flyers iced the puck; instead of putting his #1 or second line out there, he LEAVES the 4th line on the ice to go against the Flyers 4th and tired line. I have in the past questioned some of his decision making but sometimes I can pull the hair out of my head when I see dumb one's like that.

Yup, and last season when we were just winning games barely and then we went 5-8-2 people were fire the coach, Bob isn't any good, trade everyone as well. We are not playing well right now, but that won't be the way it is all season. We are still getting the points and that is important. Gaining these early points, deserved or not, gives us the opportunity to work through our issues while still remaining in contention. When we get our act together it will be just like last year. Probably be better, as I do believe this is a better team.

Follow Bob's lead people. There is a reason he does things methodically. He does not get caught up and unglued by things that are temporary.

Will Tom play this game? :)

I would be shocked if he didn't.

yea! I KNEW we went through a slump at this time last year...I hope Habs do bounce back tonight though, it's been a rough, rough week, losing to the three teams I hate losing to.

I agree it will be interesting to see how Carbo manages his resources now that there is some (well-deserved IMO) pressure on him. I really believe, though, that the result will depend on whether or not we can stay out of the sin bin. The Blues PP has been hot and if we take a few too many "tired" hooking and holding penalties it could be a long night.
