gracie12
BG doesn't negotiate contracts during the season He doesn't OFTEN - but he does/has. In rare cases (Koivu for example). I could see him renegotiation a core player like Komi (if indeed we are going to resign him) prior to the summer, although likely not THIS early - but I guess you never know. Im not sure if BG doesnt renegotiate because its a distraction for him - or the player. If its the latter, then when better then when someone is injured for a few games? (Plus maybe he learned from what Streit said last month )
leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Why are we giving up on Hamburglar so quickly? He had a breakout season last year, setting career highs in SB (stolen burgers) and HDTHC (hospitalization due to high cholesterol). We are going to regret this trade. Grimace is on the downside of his career. But Grimace's $1.5 million salary is totally wicked, and he's really good at cycling the puck down low (I swear you can't knock him off the puck), and he's the best heavyweight in the industry. He can ACTUALLY play, as well as enforce... ... Oh wait... Maybe you're right... We should probably keep Hamburglar.

Guys might think he is showing off if he scores a goal and wins a fight in the same game. Even worse yet, he might win a race for the puck! leafs_rock_go_mccabe
You guys really know how to drag a joke. Well, the thread is based on a quote from Eklund... Seriously though, has anyone from within the Habs organization mentioned an announcement yet?

Seriously though, has anyone from within the Habs organization mentioned an announcement yet? Yes, my sources tell me that Bob Gainey is trading his McDonald's Carey Price, Saku Koivu and Alex Kovalev Upper Deck Cards to Pittsburgh for their Marc-Andre Fluery, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal cards. Lundquist sucks! give them Halak and Higgins for Redden. Shoulda been 6 goals -- 10 minutes of camera upstairs watching and they relented and didn't overturn an on ice call for "no-goal" (it was a goal, but just barely). I haven't been an NYR believer despite their strong start. But your point is pretty well made.
Guest
Actually,,, the rumours i've heard is that the announcement has to do with Mario and Patrick burying the hatchet during the Jersey retirement ceromony,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,into each other
Hoyle00cdn
Maybe the announcement is to delay the Roy sweater retirement... there has been a little controversy over the fact that this is Grey Cup weekend and the Habs have been accused by some in the media for not respecting the CFL's thunder. I have trouble respecting any sport that rewards you 1 point for simply trying to kick a field goal.
GreekHockeyCoach
It's Thursday, no announcement has been made. Fun thread though but it's now closed.
