leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Source (TSN) Peter Forsberg says he wants to try the NHL one more time. According to the Denver Post, Forsberg hopes to participate in the 2009 NHL playoffs, and he would like to do so in a Colorado jersey. "I want to play. I hate sitting in the stands and not be able to be out there on the ice," Forsberg reportedly told the Swedish television program "Hockeynight" this week. "If it doesn't work this time, I'll call it quits. But I have the best doctor in the world (Bertil Romanus), and without him I would have given up already. I'm still hopeful." Forsberg also went public with the news that he had to wear electrodes on his bad foot after re-joining the Avalanche late last season. "(I had) a battery package hidden in my pants. When I turned it on, the foot straightened in the skates," Forsberg said. "It was kind of funny." Aided by such battery power, Forsberg had 15 points in nine games with Colorado at the end of the regular season. He followed up with five points in seven playoff games, although he missed three games with a back problem. Forsberg has 885 points in 706 career NHL games, and 171 points in 151 NHL playoff games. The Post also reported that Forsberg had more surgery on his right foot a few weeks ago. Forsberg did not discuss details and his agent, Don Baizley, likewise opted not to get into specifics about the procedure, although he did not deny some work had been done. DA_Champion
This guy had such incredible talent, it's sad that he got to many injuries. 885 points in 706 games, with so many injuries, in the period of time he played in, simply incredible. Kind of like Mario Lemieux, with even more injuries and fast forwarded ten years into the future.
LudaKrishna1
He'll only go back with the Avs and with Sakic's injury it looks more probable for the Avs
franck5890
It would have been phenomenal to see what this guy could and would have done had he not been so hampered by injuries.
Kubby31
It would have been phenomenal to see what this guy could and would have done had he not been so hampered by injuries. This is correct, such a shame to have been so injury prone
SteenIsThaFuture
The thing that is lost in all his injuries is that he is really really tough. In his playing days, he would get more grimace than Crosby, and the injuries hes been making multiple comebacks from, would end some peoples careers. Rocket-1
I don't want to be rude, but like usual ill be rude anyway, it's kinda normal that he's tired to sit in the stands without playing hockey, he's been sitting there for the past 12 years. Bourne
It would have been phenomenal to see what this guy could and would have done had he not been so hampered by injuries. Take Ovechkin in one hand and Crosby in another, then put them together. Forsberg is just that good when healthy.

SteenIsThaFuture
Thank you for bringing the most exaggerate comment in the history of this forum. I don't how much of a stretch it is, in that era, with that many points per game.
Bourne
Thank you for bringing the most exaggerate comment in the history of this forum. Your welcome; exaggerated yes, however I was making a point, instead of just saying he would be phenomenal. It was a metaphor, mate. Crosby is a playermaker, Ovechkin a goal scorer; Frosberg is both and his record is amazing despite his constant injuries, now imagine what he is truly capable of? Mauro-Biello
It certainly doesn't seem exaggerated after watching those 2 clips. The guy was amazing.
DA_Champion
Those videos were amazing. In the 1993 world junior championships, Forsberg got 31 points in 7 games. Peter Forsberg Paul Kariya Eric Lindros 3 elite hockey talents who never had a chance at the record books due to nonsense injuries of the 1990s style NHL. habby67
This thread has nothing to do with the Canadiens since there is no chance in H E double hockey sticks that he will come here. What Bob Gainey has not done during his tenure here is acquire an elite first line scorer and until he does this team will continue to be deemed average at best... I guess the moderators can go ahead and close down the thread now because we couldn't possible be interested in speculating on unlikely trades, signings, or acquisitions on THIS board. Oh no... This thread is no different than the others that speculate trades. If an elite player is available he's fair game to every team and if people want to discuss it, they are free to do so. leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Just imagine Forsberg (in his prime) with Saku! Not that would be one sweet combination and we would (in my fantasy) have been able to give Koivu an amazing winger who can also play physical. Koivu wouldn't have been pushed around as much as he is with Forsberg out there!
