i know the tournament officially gets underway on boxing day but i thought for those of us who follow it we might want to start discussing teams/players to watch (and i didn't see an existing thread).

any teams other than canada worth mentioning?

has anyone taken in any games yet?

here's the link to tsn's site: tsn world juniors

Super,i enjoy watching the world junior's.Already have watched their first exibition game.

According to Pat Quinn, they still have some work to do in key areas of their game, but of course, will come together and will be ready on boxing day.

Will be a great opportunity to see John Tavares and other up & coming future NHL stars.

Also for me,seeing my home-town future NHL'ER CHRIS DI DOMENICO ( from our SJ SEA-DOGS )

making the cut was cool.

Good luck to him & the team.

It's the drive for 5 baby, GO CANADA GOOOOOOOOO. :P

P.K.SUBBAN is the only one as far as i know, wish i could reply JOHN TAVARES,LOL.

 me too!

i love this tournament. i remember a couple of years ago when emelin stole the show and i found out he was a habs prospect. bitter sweet memory.

i'm also curious to see nikita filatov for the russians but i'll be cheering subban on with the rest of team canada. :D

edit: unfortunately, i believe dana tyrell is injured and has been replaced by evander kane but i don't know the details.

Tough break for Tyrell. He could be out for the season; they're still assessing him.

Yes,you are correct.Evander kane should be in their line-up tomorrow nights game vs Slovakia.

Even with their convincing 7-3 win yesterday against Finland,Quinn was not really impressed, but remain confindent they will come together on Dec.26th.

With Cody Hodgson's goal & 2 assist yesterday,he opened a few eyes, watch out for him to have a good tornament.

Let's see what comes from the young ladds vs Slovakia tomorrow, should be good. :P

Hodgson is a very good, smart player. My son played against his team in OMHA (minor hockey). Hodgson went through with Markham Waxers on the same team as Steve Stamkos. The team was something else. One year (at least) they never lost a game. I think there were a total of four players on that team that were drafted by NHL clubs 2008. As we know, Stamkos (#1) and Hodgson (#10) were both in the first round.

Wow,that's quite the info there, going a season you say not losing a game, impressive, and your son playing in the same league with these skilled players, again double WOW.

How cool that is. :D

Never a big fan of this tournament, would it kill the IIHF to make the medal round into series after the round-robin??

For such a huge and critical talent/player analysis event, you'd think they would want to get as much as they can out of it, I know the IIHF doesn't care about scouting but the whole idea of 1 and done especially in hockey is stupid.

Subban is on the 3rd pairing. Pogge is playing his first nhl game.

Aside from P.K.Subban playing for canada,i see that team sweden has defenceman Nichlas Torp and the U.S. have defenceman Ryan Mcdonagh along with forward Danny Kristo.

so, i'll finally get to see mcdonagh in action. that's exciting. i wish them all a good tournament.

this is going to be great!

edit: didn't canada already play sweden in exhibition (when tyrell got hurt)? anyone know who won? i can't find the exhibition results on tsn.
