Wayne-1
Las Vegas Wranglers to Host Gov. Rod Blagojevich Prison Uniform Night FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, December 10, 2008 Josh Fisher Las Vegas NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers Professional Hockey club announced that the team would wear vintage prison uniforms in recognition of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich for its game on Friday, January 30. The team also announced they will auction a seat between the two benches to the highest bidder. The uniforms will feature broad, horizontal black and white stripes and a prison issue number that begins “ILLGOV” with the last two characters representing a specific player’s regular uniform number. “Over the years we’ve asked our players to not look so tough for a cause,” Johnson said. “Once they had a lot of chirping from opposing players when we’ve dressed them in pink for cancer research. We owe them a game of looking a little more sketchy. G-Rod helps us with that.” In addition to the seat between the benches, each player’s actual game uniform will be autographed and auctioned off to the public in support of Wranglers charitable efforts. “This will be a great visual,” Johnson said. “If anyone would like to tape it, go right ahead.” The Wranglers gained national attention for Dick Cheney Hunting Vest Night following a shooting mishap in February of 2006 which injured 78-year-old Harry Whittington. The team often wears specialty uniforms to support themes and causes. They are known for playing one game each season that begins at midnight, and an annual Over-18 game that caters to a more mature audience. Rod Blagojevich Prison Uniform Night against the Bakersfield Condors begins at 7:30 pm. The Wranglers are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames and play their home games at the Orleans Arena.
Innis_Mor
Now that is marketing "outside the box". Hey, Las Vegas .... they could do a similar, or spin-off re: OJ.

Wayne-1
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=NjBXG0QaSE0 the Wranglers' jerseys look great, the Condors' better in the video than in the graphic (bright orange as opposed to the orange-brown of the illustration), but the Officials' jerseys were as awful as expected... Wayne-1
http://www.icethetics.info/blog/2009/2/6/f...friday-xlv.html another pic from the Wranglers' game... "January 31 was Golden Ice Night for the IHL's Kalamazoo Wings, sponsored by McDonald's. But it wasn't enough to just have yellow ice (really hope they used paint, by the way). No, instead every K-Wing was forced to dress like Ronald McDonald." (note: this is not the same IHL that was sandwiched between the AHL and ECHL levels for many years... this IHL is the league formerly known as the Colonial Hockey League, what makes them 'international' is beyond me since it's been several years since there was a Canadian team)
