pitbull12
Lines from morning skate.... Plekanec with Kovalev and Andrei Kostitsyn Koivu with Higgins and D'Agostini Lapierre with Sergei Kostitsyn and Pacioretty Bégin with Kostopoulos and Henry No Brisebois on the ice. Laraque and Dandenault, still spare parts for now it seems, ran a rush or two with Plekanec. D pairings: Markov-Komisarek Gorges (playing tonight?)-Hamrlik O'Byrne-Bouillon
teststory
I guess one posative is that Sergei K is going to get a chance at center for a while. If they could convert him to a center long term that would help with problem of lack depth at that position down the road. I think he can be at least a second line center. Good luck Sergei. habs-24
that losing lang is huge? that's an odd thing to picture me telling you on that date. you said the team will still make the playoffs, as you said back in feb 2007 before things blew up
HABFANDOG
well i'm going to try & be optimistic & use a lot of "what ifs" but if higgins & koivu get back to form (which it seems they have been playing a lil better), kovy-pleks & A. kosti find the magic they had last year & our two young guns pacs & D'ago step it up we'll still be a dangerous team. will also help if price finds his a game again. losing lang does hurt but if koivu & higgins turn it up a notch like they both can then i think it will offset the lose of lang. no matter what this is my team so.....................GO HABS GO!!! habs-24
We must win this game ... From now on every game is a critical game if we want to make these playoffs. I hope the team realizes that they will need to give their 200% if they want to win games and our key players will need to step up. The situation we are currently facing is a huge challenge but i think we have what it needs to surpass it. 3-1 MTL is my prediction. HABS ... you know what too do !!!!! the playoffs are far from being a lock at this point, the guys need to realize that...

Henry is playing because all our forwards are creampuffs. Unless you think Dandenault was going to square off with Godard.
RicochetII
A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev This line has been like Friday the 13th this season. Multiple sequels, a horror to behold and cursed with bad luck. I can hear Bullwinkle the moose in the back of Carb's head, "This time for sure!". I'm with the moose! Higgins - Koivu - D'Agostini Higgins still hasn't defined himself on this team and lining him with a player that should be around the net and a player that goes to the net hard, just pushes Higgins to the perimeter, where he has demonstrated he doesn't belong. Again, hoping for the best. Koivu and D'Agostini can work off each other in the form of rebounds, so I'm guessing that is where this line will contribute, if at all. Pacioretty - Lapierre - S. Kostitsyn Assuming their job is to focus on offense, I like it. SK for the plays, Pacioretty for the shots and Lapierre for the grind. This line scores tonight as long as they are allowed to play deep in the zone. If SK is giving up on pucks to be defensively responsible, this line will fail. Kostopoulos - Begin - Henry If you're going to ice a shutdown line, it can't hurt to have Kostopoulos be part of it and ice three defensemen simultaneously, can it? Henry hasn't really shown us defensive proficiency with the club yet, but he wasn't a liability, so with limited ice time, this line should be sound for what they are required to do. My hopes are high again. Forget the bandwagon, if you are a Habs fan, you are hopping on a rollercoaster.
FirstStar
looks like he'll still be on the wing.. they tried him at center before, not succesfull I was thinking the same thing... I'd much rather have Laps on FO's, he really doesn't have a bad FO%. Who knows what Carbo's thinking, maybe he's hoping AK74 will learn from Laps. teststory
This would have been a good time to try Sergei K or Higgens at center again IMO. This team could be hurting at center next year if they don't find some replacements. I don't care that Sergei or Higgens didn't play great at the position. It can take some time to adjust to it as you have more responsibility and have to cover more ice.
HABFANDOG
SK74 should be given a shot at center until a replacement is found. carbo was talking about that in preseason so why not do it now.
kinot-1
Henry is playing because all our forwards are creampuffs. Unless you think Dandenault was going to square off with Godard. I think Henry knows that this "may" be his chance to prove to prove himself. At least I hope so. This team needs some toughness. It would have been nice to see someone step up to Gauthier, after his dirty hit on Gorges.

FirstStar
Prediction: Komi hits Malkin so hard he breaks something, and gets injured for the rest of the season, taking him out of the scoring race. Crosby being angry will start a fight with Patches, and before the fight has even begun, Crosby will start hitting Patches and will continue his terrible fighting techniques. Crosby will then be booed everytime he steps foot in Montreal. Your move Crosby, your move. Why would we want Komi to knock a guy out of the season and scoring race... If he does that, he's not better than Gauthier. A solid hit that shakes him up is good by me, I just don't like seeing talented players going down with severe injuries. Flunky
It's too bad we have to dress a journeyman defenseman as an enforcer on the forward lines, but at least we have someone who can stand up to the other team's heavyweight. Too bad we can't bring Mike Flinn up. He makes Henry look like a choirboy.
scottyg92
For me it's not about being on the bandwagon or off... I'm just a loyal fan. Do I think they'll win the cup this season, course not! But I'll cheer for them until they're no longer in the picture - not out of the playoffs but playing their final game... Whether that be in the post season or in April. Thankfully the players don't have the same "glass is half empty" attitude that runs rampant on this forum. As for the game, the boys can win it. They'll have to turn it up and make Lang proud of having team mates who can conquer through adversity. Our history is built on conquering adversity... Time for the team to dig deep inside themselves and play games that'll be remembered for years to come (just like the teams of the past). If they do, maybe the ghosts of the old forum will find their way to the Bell Center and inspire us for another 100 years. Quote for Truth GO HABS GO!!! Eventually, teams will be afraid to injure our players and we can bring back our skill game.
