Text SizeThe Atlanta Thrashers have traded defenceman Mathieu Schneider to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for draft picks.

Schneider previously played for the Canadiens from the 1989-90 season to the 1994-95 campaign.

This season, the New York native has 4 goals and 11 assists in 44 games.

The 39 year-old was selected in the third round (44th overall) of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. A very well-traveled veteran, Schneider has had stints with the Canadiens, Islanders, Maple Leafs, Rangers, Kings, Red Wings, Ducks and Thrashers.

Details to follow.

What?! Bobs answer to this terrible play is to get an old, way past his prime defenceman? God help us all.

I am a little suprised about this aswell, and I really want to know what draft picks we gave to Atlanta.

But éh, "Welcome to the team Schneider"

Dont worry! He'll be centering our 3rd line & playing backup goal!

let's hope that unlike our lazy d-men he can pass a puck from behind the net to the other team blue line

at least now we know that gainey isnt sleeping untill springs come back

he will fit right in with everyone, he'S a ufa to be too!
