Our Montreal Canadiens Vs. The Philadelphia Flyers

I'm always gald to add those extra two points to our standings, however, I'm always extra glad to put away Philly. IMO they're a team in the NHL that doesn't deserve to be. Not to mention their fans are super annoying.

Tonight's going to be a tough one vs. the Sharks. But I always find they elevate their game when they're playing a top seeded team.

I don't Know... I've seen less goalie contact being called. It was nice that it finally turned our way, how many times during a tight game, have we been called on a weak penalty. In my opinion it had to be called, the Flyers are a rough dirty bunch, the fact we had the majority of the penalties was kinda odd.

As for the game, very happy the way the boys turned things around. Plex is getting stronger and stronger, his confidence is definitely coming back. Metropolit didn't have a bad game, I originally thought we traded for him. That I wouldn't have been happy with, but getting a guy like that (who's known for turning it up in the playoffs) off wavers was a good call imo.

What I didn't like about the game, was the long neutral ice passes (that kept getting picked off) and that we didn't win it in regulation (which game Philly a point). Brise has games where he looks like a vet with years of experience, then other games he looks like a rookie. Really didn't like the way Komi looked lost on the flyers 1st goal. The one time Komi gets out of the way of a shot, is when Halak is screened and sitting on his butt (this is when Komi should've helped the goalie, he knew Halak was out of the play) .Halak had no chance on that goal, the 3rd one was just a bad bounce. Halak made the initial save, unfortunately the puck came back out right onto Gagne skate and slid between Halak's legs.

I can't get over how the pp has changed since Schneider joined. Imho, the fact we got a booming shot from the point (again) is what has helped us get our pp back. We've been 1st on the pp cos we had a big shot from the blueline and Kovy down low. When we lost the shot from the blueline, it was easy... Cover Kovy. Now, the teams have to keep an eye on Kovy and watch out for Schneider on the blueline. I must admit, I was wrong about Schneider. I figured his experience would be his strength, but man, this guy can still shoot and he has a way of reading plays. A very smart hockey player, I really didn't think that a 39 year old player would help us out so much on the score sheet.

You really got to give it to the boys for killing off all those penalties. They didn't let the 2 quick goals get em down, they fought back to get 3 quick goals themselves. This game was a real morality boost... Take the 2 points, get a good nights sleep, you have a really big game tomorrow against the Sharks.

I just wanted to add to that first statement. We've seen less contact called and more contact not called, which is where the problem lies. Consistancey among the officials, as to the interpetation of the rule. Or any rule for that matter. It's gotta be zero tolerence from the beginning of the season until the cup is won. Since the officials are human, and we all see thing's differently, we end up with inconsistant calls on something that should be black or white. (so to speak)

I'm going to argue that. I think it was a good call. Why, there has been a history of going to the net with some malicious intentions/outcomes. There has been repeated attempts to protect the goalie by intorducing new and amendmants to rules that might protect the goalie. I dont now if you rmember but there was even an attempt to restrict players from entering the crease, other attempts to limit the amount of time in the crease. Now you can go into the crease but you can't touch the goalie. It is still highly subjective, but nearing the playoffs and during the playoffs there might as well be some standard set. Goalies are in some ways like the QB. The QB needs to be protected becuase physical contect is not a part of their position, it is a inherant danger however. Not assuring these positions are protected to some level takes away from the game.

Yah I would've put my opinion in different context had the call been on one of our canadians, but the moral would've still been there.

I think it was a good call. Hey ! the goalies wear the red jersey......so to speak.

All in all it was a fantastic game.

Uh dude, I think you read my post wrong, I pretty much said what you said, but not in so many words.

No, he was really peed off. He was shaking his head all the way to the box and then proceeded to break his stick in mad fashion. He didn't like the call at all as he kept gestering/saying things to the ref while he had his back turned away from the camera. Yeah, he was p-off. Me, well, like the announcers said; it's an automatic call these days. Let's just be thankful that we finally had something go our way. And besides, it looked to me that he brought his right knee up towards Halak's head. I like to see that again.

There were a lot of broken sticks behind the flyers bench last night.

Good comeback tonite. Was it just me or was Breezer terrible tonite? They need a dedicated defensive coach on this team. If it wasnt for Halak again we would have been slaughtered...

Not to take away from Halak's play, but the forwards were doing well last night. Great penalty killing in the 2nd and in OT, Koivu won the face off 4 straight times to get us the win. For some reason, the Habs seem to play well against the Flyers. Our best game of the season was against the flyers (earlier on in the season).

Absolutely, he was a monster in OT, he won something like 5 consecutive offensive-zone faceoffs.

5 wow, I thought it was 4, even better!

And people say Koivu is over-rated. His stats don't reflect what he does on the ice.

Why in the heck would he not ,he's going to get anymore ice time which he wants,he doesn't agreewith carbo,he's not happy, bla bla bla.

It would not surprise me one bit if things change for him,and he's gone this time next week.

We'll see where this goes with him.

My thinking always,if a player wants out,not happy being with the team,,,SEE YA.

I'm not so sure he'll want to waive his NTC. Think about it, he's getting 1.5 mil to play in his home town. He grew up not far from the Bell Center.

The refs were too generous calling penalties on us last night (most deserved) but they missed some calls on the Flyers. We got the last laugh. I call it KARMA.

Yup karma... What goes around, comes around. Thankfully for us, it came around and bit the flyer's in the butt in OT.
