Zonave
Okay, so I am thinking of starting up a game of risk over the internet, and I would moderate it. Basically, I would come up with a map, and everything would be hockey/hab realated. It won't be complicated, just 30-50 territories. It might be somewhat complicated to make, and it would take a lot of effort, so before i put any work in it, I need to know if anybody would actually be intersted. I would need 4-7 people, 6 players and 1 neutral volunteer to say, no pp isn't cheating. I would post rules, map, etc later, if anyone was intersted. Lynch_mtl
totally a good idea, I would join if we weren't playing risk. Playing chess or something, like tic tac toe. Something short, that doesn't involve dice. But I would definetely and even help create a forum tournament if you found the right game, not risk though. Zonave
i could try something like that aswell, but it would take a little more work
Lynch_mtl
What did you have in mind? cause it sounds like fun.
Zonave
well, i could still use imaging software to make board/pieces, or i could download a chess game. getting it to go quickly would be the issue, but people coul pm me with moves and i could moderate and move pieces. unless everyone is on at the same time, then it won't work well unless we get some other way to do it. the easy alternative would be to find an online chess thing and coordinate times to get on, but that would require memberships, etc
Lynch_mtl
Ya...we'd have to get people to join, and then schedule games via PM. Then we could post the results on the board. You could take half of the games, and I could take half, and get 16 people in total. We could create it like a tournament, leading up with one winner. They could PM their moves to either one of us, and we would forward the moves to the other person in the game. What do you think? Too much work? Zonave
that would be fine with me, and we can even do more than 16 people, but there still needs to be some interest, we have to wait and see whos intersted and in what games.
Lynch_mtl
Ok, you could put in a notice in your sig, as I will. If noone takes notice in a week, I guess we could think something else up. Note to others: If you want to sign up, please do! It will be really fun, and don't be afraid to make suggestions.

Lynch_mtl
sounds interesting. The problem is that noone else has responded, so at this rate, we'll have enough people half way through next year.

Lynch_mtl
ya It was one thing to put a message about it our signature, but what do you think about sending people PM's about it? Do you think it would be too annoying?

CanuckGalInVic
Okay, so I am thinking of starting up a game of risk over the internet, and I would moderate it. Basically, I would come up with a map, and everything would be hockey/hab realated. It won't be complicated, just 30-50 territories. If you can give up the Habs theme, you can play risk for free on conquerclub.com without having to do all that work... (if checking out the link on April 1, disregard the pink and the 'cutesy club' stuff ) They have all kinds of crazy maps (no Habs maps, but there is a Montreal map). The original 'classic' map had to have the image changed for fear of copyright infringement, and some of the terms are different (ie 'spoils' instead of 'cards', 'fortification' instead of 'reinforcement'). There are different game options to choose from - team games, assassin games (where you only want to take out your target), cards vs no cards, etc. And one of the options I quite like is the fog of war, which means you can only see armies in territories adjacent to yours. The 'casual' games give each player 24 hours to make their move, and once their turn is started, they have an hour to finish it. It doesn't require everyone to be online at the same time, but depending on how quick people are with their turns, the games can take several weeks (I had one go on for months). You get an email notification when it's your turn, and if you miss three turns you get booted from the game. Members with free accounts cannot set up private games (players need a password to join it), but if people are interested, I have a full account and can set up a game once the game options are decided upon. Zonave
thats cool. i'll look into it, but i was thinking along the lines of a forum tournament. I figured that would be pretty cool.
CanuckGalInVic
With private games, you can restrict who can play in each game. It would eliminate some of the gameplay work for for you, but it would require forumers to create an account on CC.
