concreteveins
Sorry if this is already posted. I have a rogers box and live in the Greater Toronto Area. I want to order RDS but have conflicting reports from Rogers themselves. They say that I need to go find the channel (can't remember the specific channel right now), click on it and follow the prompt on my television screen. Thing is, whatever channel they tell me or is listed online is not listed as RDS when I go to the channel. Forgive me if this is a stupid topic but is there anyone who has gone through this process and can offer up some information. Anything would be great! Wayne-1
the number RDS is can vary depending on where in the GTA you are... I think it's 673 in Richmond Hill... the message I get is to call (888) 764-3771... be careful though -- you may not get the Habs games even though you get RDS!!! it may be subject to blackout restrictions... right now there's a game blacked out on Sportsnet West... Habsy1
Not sure where you live in the GTA but in Markham you have to get the "Variété" pack for $6.99/month to get RDS which is channel 673. Unfortunately the HD feed of RDS is not available though...
xTybe_mtl
They don't black them out on RDS

Wayne-1
They don't black them out on RDSdoes that apply to the GTA? or are you talking about Hamilton? if there is a blackout restriction, it may not apply to Hamilton... I'm not sure, it may have been simply that NHL.com is brutal, but I couldn't get it to show a Habs game during it's free preview earlier this season... JHaul
RDS is a national network... no blackouts. On starchoice RDS is channel 750 and the HD feed is 240. I get both in both places I have receivers. One in Pickering (GTA east) and Coboconk (small town a couple hours north). Sorry that I can't help on the Rogers front. Tomv
Rogers is "still" negotiating with RDS for the HD channel. I just got a reply back from them. They originally tried to shove me off with a "check our front page news for that channel". I told them that doesn't cut it and provided links all over the internet of how lots of people are ticked they don't have RDS HD on Rogers. Rogers claims they welcome any ideas on improving service and want to know their customers concerns, yet we still have no RDS HD. Anyhow, they responded back and said that they are still in negotiations for the channel and I said thanks. They said as Bell holds the rights, there is not much they can do to move things along faster. What ticks me off is before I accepted to go to Rogers I should have checked the channel lineup online. The sales rep that came to my house lied to me basically and told me he was pretty sure the RDS was already in HD as he was a fan too. I remember looking at the pamphlet he had and I only saw RDS. I am going to go even further and write a complaint to CRTC and have them investigate just exactly what is holding up RDS HD on Rogers. Bell owns it and it wouldn't surprise me that they are just F'ing around with Rogers to have some sort of stupid advantage or asking for a stupid amount of money. I left Bell completely and never plan to go back even if I have to swallow regular RDS on Rogers.

If that's the case, I don't blame them. Rogers has amassed a monopoly in television networks. I work in television and they've actually recently bought up the network our show airs on. Anyhow, Rogers has done something very similar when it comes to Sportsnet. I ordered the entire SNET package, hoping to have access to more games and yet I can only see hockey games on SNET that are in my local area. The western games, for example, are all blacked out. Been that way for years now. My take on the reason is that Starchoice, owned by Shaw, is a direct competitor for Rogers. You won't hear me crying because Rogers hasn't been given fair access to ONE channel. They should know better than anyone that it's just business. It's pure corporate politics nonsense where in the end it is the fan/customer that ends up losing out. Similarily the Rogers dispute with TSN2, which competitor Bell has a stake in through CTVglobemedia, has meant Toronto Raptors fans in the GTA that are Rogers subscribers are missing out on 25 games this season and Senators fans in Ottawa are missing out a few Sens games that are airing on TSN2. Supposedly Rogers and TSN have been in negotiations since last summer over this but it's simply a case of competitors playing hardball with each other and the big loser ends up being the customers. I suspect it's something similar happening with the HD feed of RDS since RDS/TSN are all part of the CTVglobemedia family. Hasn't the RDS HD feed been running for like 2 years now? And they're still negotiating? Puh-leaze...
1stroundpick
My folks live 45 min North of Montreal and are with Cogeco Cable. Last time I heard RDS wasnt HD . I got realy upset (like you are) on CBC showing so many Saturday night Leafs games. I work in all kind of weird places all over Alberta so I have had to resort to the internet for habs games most of the time. CBC.ca carries the weekend games on streaming for free and you can always order rds.ca for $1.99 a game. they also have a monthly and season package. One thing I learned is that between Shaw/Bell/Cogeco and any other phone or cable company you are not going to win. They all suck and they dont care much about you. Good luck! P.S. No thing such as coustomer service in this world any more.

I've done it 1ce or 2ice, I wrote my letters in French to possibly get quicker feed back, and I did. And I totally agree with you about Bell. They are the biggest joke. Reason: customer service is a crock. My family was with Bell for almost 25 years, then we switched to Primus, then to Rogers when my family moved to Ontario.
